Exclamation Can't text abuse leave H20

    Hi Everyone,

I can't send or receive text starting yesterday 1-3-21. Today I can't connect to the internet but my Wifi is working. So I called H20 today 1-4-21 and I have been with them since March 2016 till now January 2022. Suddenly my data is not working too. I spoke to the rep and she checked on my account and she said your text message is over the limit and the system has reported as abuse. I said what happen to my account and the rep says I texted 4,000 message in 4 days WHAT? That is crazy and all I have is the transit alerts and sometimes I text my friends. I don't text that much. I ask the rep how can you unblock this and she said the system can't reset you and you will have to get a new number OR LEAVE H20. Those are my 2 choices and pick one. I asked so how can I come back and she said you have to get a new number and port back. Then I said I need my number because my friends and family has this number and she said then you have to leave. Then rep gave me my PIN number and account number. Now I am ready to find a new provider before I switch I will have to ask my new provider what is the limit on the text message even if says unlimited. Did anyone have this problem before? Why I was searching this on the Internet. It happened since last year in Sept 2021. I never received text message saying I am close to the limit.

I've been with H20 off & on over the past 3 years, using an AT&T flip on the 90 day $10 paygo plan and never had the problem.

I also have an unlocked Moto E smartphone on the Red Pocket eBay plan that's $30/year but it's GSMT (T-Mobile) if you can use that. It offers 200 mins talk/1000 texts/I think 200mbs data (monthly, no rollover).

There's a Red Pocket GSMA ATT based yearly plan, $60/year for the SIM on eBay. I think it's 100mins talk/maybe 100 texts? Each month and probably no rollover. But I've never tried it.

There's also another ATT based service similar to H2O with $10/90 day SIM kit, as well as other plans. Black Wireless I think is the service.

Lucky you. I have a Unlimited monthly plan. I forgot to mention that. Black wireless has limit but they don't tell you. Free up mobile I sent them an email I have to wait for the reply. Unreal mobile has 20,000 text message per month. If you are over the 20,000 per month then you have purchase it for 100 messages. I spoke with a rep because if after I switch I don't want to this problem again where I have to change providers. All MVNO states unlimited BUT they don't tell you how much per month you can text and then it happens it is too late and have to find another provider. The systems CANNOT be RESET! I paid 6 month of service till June 2022 and now I need to request a refund because I have to H20 Wireless because of this!

I hope you get a service that works for you that you can port your number to. They should always clearly state what the limits are. Unlimited usually has it hidden in fine print somewhere.

    Hello,

Yes thanks. All MVNO has that has limit for text message DON'T mention it. I will have to go back to the original AT&T brand Prepaid because they don't have that limit where as a MNVO they are "renting" a line from the three providers AT&T, T-mobile and Verizon. Actually the AT&T Prepaid is the same exact amount as H20 $40 for 15GB and that what I was paying for H20. The only difference is H20 can all Internationally where as AT&T can ONLY call Canada and Mexico. Back in 2016 when I left AT&T GO PHONE they didn't have calls to unlimited calls to Canada and Mexico. I didn't even image I have to go back to the "original" AT&T brand.

UPDATE 1-5-2022 FOUND OUT WHY AT&T and other carries LIMIT text even it says Unlimited

I just called AT&T Prepaid because I will switch back to AT&T Prepaid because where I am T-mobile single is bad 1 or 2 bars. AT&T is full bars. Anyway what I found it I spoke with the rep and basically this is NEW and that the TOS/C (Term of Service/Condition) was updated in May 2021 and the reason behind the limit is because the rep said who texts on the phone anymore and now there apps like What's App and now people uses those app to text. So that is why they places those rules since May 2021 and the rep says it APPLIES TO ALL CARRIERS (AT&T, Verizon, Tmobile PREPAID that is) I don't know if that is true or not. But then again who reads the TOS/C you know and most people just sign the contract or the paper and just take the service. WOW! I can't believe I learn something from this . I asked AT&T Prepaid and the guy was nice enough to explain to me this whole thing. Safelink, Straight talk all the other prepaid has the same thing WOW. The ONLY exception is IF you are on the POSTPAID plan and they DON'T have that problem and the reason why is you are PAYING MORE money so that why they don't have that rule.

ATT PREPAID TOS - May 2021

2.8.1 Limits on Use of Other Wireless Carrier Networks in the U.S.:[/h] In most cases you are not charged separately for domestic off-net usage. Please check your rate plan terms to determine whether any extra charges apply for domestic roaming. However, if your rate plan provides for off-net usage, you still must use your Device predominantly within the AT&T owned and operated wireless network. Thus, if we provide you with off-net usage, we may suspend, limit or cancel your continued use of other carriers' networks if you exceed the following off-net thresholds:

    • Voice - If you use more than 750 minutes during any month.
    • Data - If you use more than 100 megabytes of data during any month.
    • Messaging - If you use more than 3,000 messages during any month.

We will provide you with notice if we take action because you exceed any of these thresholds.
For current information about our coverage, please visit att.com/coverageviewer. Please be aware that your Device may connect to another wireless carrier’s network even when you are located within the AT&T owned and operated network coverage area.

Those limits only apply off-network (aka roaming ) use. There's no limit on non-roaming call or texts on AT&T Prepaid unlimited plans

The rep who I spoke with did not say roaming but I ask the rep how about like Straight Talk, Simple Mobile and H20 Wireless etc are they considered "other carriers" and the rep said yes and that would be off-network even tough they are use AT&T renting from us and it is within the US.

    UPDATE 1-15-22
H20 Wireless refunded to my credit card on January 11,2022 but it was in "authorization" mode and today January 15, 2022 I log to my credit card and the refund has "disappeared". I have filed with FCC and BBB and they have replied they have refund my money already. I wonder if H20 Decided to "cancel" my refund? I have disputed with my credit card company. Let's see what happens.

    UPDATE 1-20-22

H20 Wireless REFUNDED my money BUT I called my credit card company AND they told me that "it is because of DISPUTE" so that is why H20 Wireless refunded your money. So in other words H20 Wireless will NOT REFUND my money if I haven't called my credit card company. Even though H20 Wireless told me they are going to refund it but they make it like they will refund your money but "actually they don't" so that's a lie. No wonder it dropped off the "authorization" because when I called my bank to ask why it dropped off they told me because H20 Wireless "did not finalized" the payment and so that is why it dropped off.

I will NEVER go to a mvno again. Lesson learned always look at the TOS/C but I don't think anyone looks at that. But the sneaky part about H20 Wireless is that they don't even mention about the texting limit anywhere in there TOS/C. I will have to go to the "original" brand the three MAJOR carriers and not mvno where they "rent" towers, talk, text, and data from the three major carriers. This is like printers manufacture saying use "genuine ink/toners" and don't use re-manufacture ink/toners or your print quality will be bad. Same analogy if you think about it.
