    These @#*&@ disconnected me

I admit I have been sticking my fingers in my ears and going "la la la" for the last year.

I have an iPhone with an AT&T sim.
They've been bugging me to get the free sim to switch to Verizon. I finally relented and the sim came in the mail about 10 days ago.

I've been busy. I don't want to make this switch in the first place - Verizon service at my house is awful.

Today I lost service on my phone. No texts, no data, no phone calls.

I guess I have to switch now, so what is the best process?

I got my free sim Wednesday, haven't done the transfer yet, so thanks for the timeline. I was planning on doing the transfer Monday and I'm just gonna follow the instructions that came with the sim... "ONESTEP" to 611611.

However you do yours please let us know how it goes so I have another idea of what I have to look forward to.

Before doing "ONESTEP" to 611611 it wouldn`t hurt to get on chat and document your airtime, including the ticket number so it can be looked up again by TF. Do the transfer immediately after the chat... no time delays from beginning to final conclusion.

I received a new phone or SIM due to network changes. How can I transfer my phone number and benefits to the new phone or SIM?

    • Text ONESTEP to 611611 on your old device.
    • You’ll get a reply asking for the last four digits of your new serial number or new SIM card number.
    • After you text the number, you will receive a confirmation with instructions to complete the activation of your new device or SIM.

Definitely suggest taking a screenshot of your balances.

I was in chat and phone hell for close to 4 hours, once they opened at 8 am.
That's not to say the onestep route would have worked. I have no idea. My phone wouldn't work. The way things are at TF right now, I seriously doubt it.

TF CS was as bad as I've ever experienced, and I have been on TF for over a decade and gone through multiple phone activations.

My phone finally could make and receive calls at 4 pm, but I discovered via 611611 that I had no data or texts or voice minutes. (Not sure how I could make phone calls, but I don't care).
I still don't have that resolved.

The problem is that even though I have the screenshot, I have to suffer through a minimum of 30 minutes on chat with the first CSR reading from the script, who then says it needs to be escalated, and then there is nobody at that level to take the chat, and so they schedule a callback, which never comes. And the cycle repeats.

I do know that I need to get off TF because the difference in service is glaring. With an AT&T-based SIM, I had been able to make phone calls and text in my house - it's not great, but it worked.

Now I can't do either without wandering around with my phone in the air, standing at odd places on our deck.

    I'm done.

Another 90 minutes of chat/call BS today.
Stood at the far corner of the deck, could finally get a signal, enough to confirm that data was working and could text 611611 to get updated and correct balance.
    All was good.
Just now got another text from TF "Welcome back to Tracfone. Your last day of service is 6/13/2022"
    So wtf knows.

Researching other prepaids now. Cannot put up with this anymore.

I applaud your decision to be good to yourself.
