Early this afternoon I had no service including no texts. I have plenty on my balances and service does not expire until 2023. I got onto chat and before we could get into anything my service came back. Then a few minutes later no service. The chat person said I had to upgrade to Verizon. I explained to her that altho I have Verizon in my area, I travel to an area frequently that does not have Tracfone Verizon coverage. They don't even sell Verizon Tracfones there. So I need an ATT sim. She said I would have to buy one. So I ordered an ATT sim. I have a BYOP.
Is anyone else having issues with intermittent service?
I'd recommended that if you really feel the need to try to activate the TF/ATT sim that you set up an account using a zip code and area code you absolutely know does not have Verizon service. That's if you can even activate it. I have the feeling that the days are numbered to even activate "new" service on TF/ATT even in areas that don't have Verizon service.
I would remove then reseat the existing sim before I tried to replace it with a different one. Might have just been an ATT problem?
Well the problem was with ATT. I found out this morning that a contractor cut a fiber optic line yesterday for ATT and that put out service for lots of ATT people not just Tracfone customers. My phone is working just fine today.
Glad you don't have to mess with a new SIM card.
I will be switching from TF/AT&T to TF/VZW at TF's request. The bummer is that I now have 4 bars (reception) with my TF/ATT service at home and my wife (on VZW proper) only has 3 bars. I'm not looking forward to finding out what signal I get from TF/VZW.
iPhone 11 on Tracfone/VZW.
I hate Apple. (I really miss Android)
The signal bar is not a reliable indicator for comparing signal strength between two phones that are not the same make/model. Use the Network Signal Info app which shows signal strength as a numerical value, making the comparison more accurate.

Another useful app is Phone Signal Information . It shows a running graph of the signal strength, when a tower switch occurs, and more details.
EDITED: Those signal info apps are for Android devices. Don't know if there are similar apps for iPhones.
Good stuff. Thanks!
