    T-Mobile reigns supreme in Ookla’s Q2 5G network report

“The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

I am a fan of T-Mo even though they are no good for me. They have done great things with their limited resources. They still have a long way to go. Competition is good.

This is correct. TMobile on average has less coverage than At&t and Verizon.. period. They draw attention to 5g coverage and 5g 'average ' speedd in their ads to promote what they have.

This Root Metrics study seems to back up T-Mobile's claims on 5G speeds in both urban and non-urban locations. The problem as always is availability, site-spacing, and coverage gaps. All things that T-Mobile says they are working on. I have yet to see any real progress, however, and I hope they do make some actual improvements going forward.

5g spacing vs 4g lte spacing is something that will eventually be fixed. Actual coverage spacing (dead/weak spots) are something that TMobile will have to work on, as in many areas, TMobile has overall coverage gaps that competitors in many areas do not, and need to just upgrade their gear.

TMO is a mess here in my area of Upstate SC. Since all the Sprint and TMO changes, my work phone refuses to use a tower less than , 1/8 of a mile away. I would always see - 80 - 100 signals that maintained strength and pretty much the same bands all day everyday. Now it's all over the place constantly with Signal pro showing towers over 2 miles away with - 115 to - 134 and loss of service back and forth. It makes no sense and nothing changed on my end.

These reports don't seem to reflect my area. All three have work to do.

ironically, in downtown Bangor, ME. my phone defaults to Sprint B41, 10MHz or B25 5MHz.
I have to disable those bands to get TMobile
Even more interesting, upstate TMobile prefers 256kbps At&t B2/B12 over US Cellular which gives up to 3Mbps. So basically, if you want useful service in rural northern Maine, do a carrier selection of US Cellular. TMobile is mostly no show outside of a few spots on i95
