    MMS group messaging

Ever since I came back from Ireland or updated to 15.5 (basically the same) my group texts fail about 40% of the time. I don’t get group messages for hours at a time then I get 20-30 all at once. On Wi-Fi, on 5G, on 5Ge, on LTE. I’m going insane. Individual texts and all iMessages are OK.

    Phone wise:
    Resetting network connections
    Reloaded iOS
Apple blames AT&T at this point

    Network side:
AT&T found an “issue on the sever.” Whatever that means. They reset something and said I’d lose service for a half day. I had no service for about 3 hours. When it came back it was supposed to be fixed. It isn’t.

Apple and AT&T just blame each other at this point. My husband’s line (same phone, same towers) isn’t having this issue.

Any ideas? I’m close to porting to Verizon and let the rest of my family with no issues stay on AT&T. Waste of money (since the 4th line is $10 on my plan) but this is intolerable since I have a decent amount of people with androids.
    AT&T: 2003 (gophone) & 2008-2009 & 2013-Present
    Cingular: 2003-2006
    Sprint: 2006-2007 & 2009-2011
    Verizon Wireless: 2001-2003 & 2011-2013

Have you tried updating to 15.6?

Also, how many people are in the group? I was part of a text group of 14 or 15 cousins. Randomly, some of the ATT members might not receive the text. I'm working from memory here, but I believe that ATT limits a group text to 10. If you have more than that, you may be the one left out on some of the texts.

That limit is long gone. I'm on group mms with 20+ people. Works fine on Android.

Have you turned iMessages on and off - Text/data and sync across devices? There's probably a setting that needs to be turned off and back on in imessage.

Can you turn mms on and off?

    I'm an android user fyi.

No I haven’t. My phone alerted me to 15.5 but I was busy, then traveled (& naturally finally got COVID from said trip). I was way late to 15.5. I didn’t even think to check for a new release. Can’t hurt to try! Thanks!

Joey, yes tried all of that. But thanks!

My phone does have a hairline crack from last year. Don’t think Apple will replace it due to it though. It naturally happened the first day I got this replacement last year 🤣

15.6 Didn’t work. Even did another restore.

    Still not reliably getting MMS.

Just did a Speedtest. 100 down, 20 up. Can’t get the 4 photos my sister in law sent, which my hubby next to me got.

I wonder if there’s some kind of “stuck” registration with the roaming carrier, and AT&T is forwarding the messages to their infrastructure. When you called, did you try talking to international support?

This is definitely it. Just a matter of finding the fix.

Are you e-sim? How about going into myATT and deleting the current plan on your phone and Re issuing a new e-sim. Did that with one of the watches and in 10 minutes it Re registered perfectly and all network issues disappeared. Number stayed the same.

    Also, check your apn settings.

Yeah that makes sense about something from the roaming being an issue. My hubs was just in London and was 50/50 EE/O2.

He just started having the problems once he got back.

UGH this is so annoying. I will try international support. I don’t have an esim so maybe I can request a new sim for the two of us? How do I check apn?

I'm not sure how to check on an iPhone. Can someone chime in and tell him how to reset to default?

I did call itnernational support. They thought it could be from our recent travels. They did a few more things but did not elaborate. It seems to be working better now. For now.

Now, I have realized I do not get incoming calls reliably either.

I don't know how much longer I can hold on, I am at my wits end. Apple sent me a new phone, FedEx refused to deliver it because they are stupid & returned it to Apple and now I am in customer service HELL with Apple...who cannot contact me because my phone doesn't reliably take incoming calls. I am about to go to an android and Verizon and SCREAM all the way to the store. This is pure hell.

New phone & five more calls to AT&T later…my phone is working again. The phone call issue was caused by the old “call protect” app that was retired ages ago but still on my account. The app provisioned crap on my actual account even though I deleted it years ago. It was blocking about 1/3 of calls without ANYONE knowing (it didn’t even show on my call logs). This stumped AT&T but they figured it out.

Of course Apple still hasn’t acknowledged they got my iPhone last week
