I currently have 2 lines on TF VZ each with 12 month/1.5G plans. I bought a few brand new Simple Mobile branded phones for a good deal several months ago. I wanted to activate and unlock these devices so I can have some spares around in case of emergency(broken, lost, phone etc)
What is the proper procedure to activate these phones on my VZ lines and stay on VZ to take advantage of the 60 day unlock. I have tried once in the past and despite rebranding and asking to be on VZ, the phone was activated on T-mobile (without realizing it). When I tried to unlock they refused and said it requires 12 months. I now realize most Simple Mobile phones come with T-mobile SIMs so that was my error.
I had questions for a couple of scenarios:
1. Can I buy a Tracfone VZ BYOP SIM and have it paired with a brand new/never used Simple Mobile device?
2. I have one SM phone which was activated new but put on TM as mentioned and when I couldn't unlock I replaced it on that line after 60 days. Can I still activate this device with a VZ BYOP SIM and get it to unlock after 60 days or is this phone done?
AFAIK the phones work on VZ: LG Journey LTE, Moto E6, Samsung A21.
The unlocking policy states you must activate their phones with the SIM that originally came installed in them to qualify for unlocking.
No plan proceeds withing discovering extra drawbacks.
Maybe talking directly with the unlocking department could provide a solution... if going off official script is allowed by management.
So there is no way to somehow pair a new VZ BYOP SIM with the IMEI of the new phone?
Are SM phones still coming with T-mo sims?
I don't see much mention of T-mo on the SM site, just the usual 5G nationwide network Verizon-speak instead of powered by the T-mobile network.
Just some handy links and numbers:
TF unlocking policy: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/...vZ0FBIS9nQSEh/
The unlocking department: 888 442-5102
TF corporate office: 800 626-4883 x3324 or 305 640-2000 x1029
I believe you can reach a rep on all numbers every day from 8am - 11:45pm EST.
If corp office states closed, enter ext number when prompted.
The ICCDs on the phones I mentioned all match to TM. Is one of the prerequisites for unlocking on TF VZ to use the original SIM? I thought maybe it didn't matter if you could somehow get customer service to re-pair a BYOD VZ SIM with the device. Has anyone tried this scenario and been successful at unlocking?
The unlocking department, 888 442-5102, may provide some beneficial information for this situation.
I do not see that you ever mentioned the age of these SM phones. Before the DL models, there were two models, one for Verizon and the other for T-Mobile and AT&T. If this has not been addressed, what is the Model number?
I have an iPhone XR that I got new from Simple Mobile. I used the SIM that came with it to activate it on Simple Mobile/T-mo. The service expired a couple months ago and I talked on the phone to 2 different agents trying to change it to Tracfone/Verizon. When I gave them the IMEI they stated that the phone was not one of theirs. Both agents said that.
The phone was purchased by me in my name directly from Simple Mobile.
I explained to both agents that Simple Mobile is part of Tracfone but they both played stupid.
I'll try again later but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
"You no call here again!"
