How is it that your cellphone "wakes up" when it is moved?

I'm guessing that it has a gyroscope-type sensor in it that recognizes Movement.
The big question: Can we read the severity of that Movement?
On no specific phone model, just: every phone that you are using nowadays; Android or Apple iOS.
I want the phone to run a certain App... only when the Movement is Very Severe.
Like, for example, when the phone is dropped to the floor.
OR, if the App is always running, can the App measure the Movement,
and at a certain (high) threshold, the App then executes certain commands.?

There are phone apps that show what sensors your phone has and it shows the movement of the phone as you handle it.

I have CPU Info installed from Google Play store and it shows sensors and as I handle the phone, the data changes reflecting the movement. (Screenshot of the Sensors tab on the app).

I don't know if you can set a phone to wake only if the movement is severe, but maybe there are Google Play apps that address these issues and you can customize the app settings to do what you want. Name: Screenshot_20221105-125346-595.jpg

Motorola Moto E6, can be put to sleep; and then sometimes when pick up the device and move it or tilt it, the screen displays a dim figure of a clock and one or two buttons; if you swipe upward on the screen this wakes the device and shows screen to put in your PIN code.

I like this behavior and often rely on it, but I wonder if there is a way or some settings to control it?

    Thanks for the replies, people.

Wheelieboot, I don't want to use some other App to Read that information.
I intend to Create an app that will act upon that information.

Joseg,... How Did You Know That I Have a Moto E6?
Yes, it works like that, but I'm inquiring about basically Any cell phone.

Serial,... No issue (problem), just a million-dollar idea. That's all.

    Thanks, people.

I did not know. I only reported on something you observed. We are lucky. For now.

Control for it is in the Moto app under Moto Display. The setting is called Peek. It is either on or off. I like it to check the time, date, and battery percent.

I followed approximately what you said and found it. I am curious; if other devices from other companies have something like this for their mobile phone/devices?

I have a Samsung A51. It does not do this. I do not see anything in settings for it.

Does anyone other than Moto have the tomahawk chop to turn on the flashlight?
