    Activating Straight Talk iPhone

    I just purchased a Straight Talk iPhone. I want to activate it on Tracfone as a recognized device, not BYOD. That will make the unlock easier. What is the correct procedure for that? I can logon to my Tracfone online account and follow these steps:
    • My account
    • Manage Lines
    • Add a new Line
    • I need to activate a device
    • New Phone (One you've purchased through Tracfone)
    • Phone number (I want a new number)
    • Sim Card (I want to use the physical SIM card)
    • Phone identification (Enter IMEI)

    Is this correct?

    The last time I rebranded a phone, I had to get a CSR in the middle of the activation.

    The online way knows how to check the branding.

    You might want to speak with the unlocking department, by calling 1-888-442-5102, to get their input, since they decide on what qualifies.
    Then use chat when activating.

    I followed the steps listed. The phone is working fine. But, it shows as Unknown Device in the online account and Unlocking website does not recognize it. However, I called the Unlocking department and they verified that it will unlock on Jan 25.

    I'm in the exact same boat (see post) but I haven't called the unlocking department yet. Was there any other confirmation they could give you other than a verbal 'you'll be ok'?

    No other confirmation. I had a similar situation in the past with a Simple Mobile iPhone. That unlocked after 60 days, but had to call. People in Unlocking department seem to have better knowledge.

    For rebranding phones, I always activate the phone with chat assitance and before the activation I ask the rep to specifically rebrand the phone to Tracfone service. Usually they understand immediately and have you wait a few minutes while they do this.

    I was told a long time ago by rep that they must take a deliberate action to rebrand. This may happen automatically, without rep assistance, just by activating it on the site or chat without the ask, but it might not. I try to increase chance of it happening by asking for it.

    The unlocking department can usually help sort things out.

    If you text unlock to 611611, do you get any date?

    A forum member rebranded a Total wireless iPhone SE 2022 to Tracfone. They called in to ask for it to be rebranded before activation. And it was a smooth automatic unlocking.
