    Service Transfer - IMEI needed?

    Hi All!
I am about to transfer my service to my new S22.

I have one remaining question: I remember reading on here a week or two ago that the TF agent does not need to know the IMEI info.
When looking into my previous transfer logs though, I see that I always had to provide the IMEI number of the new phone (the one the service and number gets transferred TO).

So is the IMEI of the new phone needed, or should I not provide that?

    Update:
I started the chat in the meantime, and the agent sure enough asked for my IMEI number.
He then responded: "this IMEI is not from tracfone"

    I told him that it's a BYOP.
He says that the transfer can't be done via chat, and asks for a call back number for the porting department to call me at.
Call is now scheduled to happen in 15 minutes.

What to do? Is this normal?

You always have to provide the IMEI of the phone that will be used with a BYOP TF/Verizon SIM because TF will pair that IMEI to that BYOP SIM. In the past, like several years ago, TF reps didn't ask for the IMEI when activating a BYOP TF/AT&T SIM or BYOP TF/T-mo but they do now, although TF still isn't pairing the IMEI to BYOP SIM for AT&T and T-mo.

The rep you got was clueless. A competent rep will ask for the S22's IMEI and the BYOP SIM number, then activate the BYOP SIM with a transfer from your current phone. Don't bother waiting for a call back, try another Chat rep.

Why did that rep think the Port Dept needs to get involved?

    Thanks!
I am on the new chat right now.
Surprisingly, my home phone did ring exactly at the time of the scheduled call back, but I didn't pick up.

Worked at the second try. Everything is there, including the mins, data, texts & 1 year of service from the BYOP kit from ebay.

    Thanks for all the help!
