Update:
I started the chat in the meantime, and the agent sure enough asked for my IMEI number.
He then responded: "this IMEI is not from tracfone"
I told him that it's a BYOP.
He says that the transfer can't be done via chat, and asks for a call back number for the porting department to call me at.
Call is now scheduled to happen in 15 minutes.
What to do? Is this normal?
