You need to enable VoLTE because Verizon turned off their CDMA network.
Without VoLTE or CDMA, you will see issues with calling, but texting its random from what I seen.

Anyone experience any problems with your tracfone service?
I just now got off the phone with a rep and she told me they have had a network outage since Jan.1 and that a tower was down. Not all phones affected but some are.
I had problems where I was not able to make calls or send or receive text messages. The rep got me going again.

Yeah, a person on another forum that I've been helping emailed me yesterday and said she had problems with her phone after 1/1/23. She couldn't receive/make calls but her texts still work. It turns out she has an LG K31 which is VoLTE-capable but she needed to turn on Advance Calling.
Yep, VoLTE might have other names. Some of the common names are Advanced Calling, Enhanced 4G LTE mode, and HD calling.
I know some people disabled VoLTE because they do not like call quality or they think VoLTE uses their data.
Everything was working fine prior to this morning. I had no bars of signal strength indicating no cell signal. The rep had me turn the phone off for couple of minutes, she must have pulled some switches and after I turned the phone back on it worked like normal.
Actually, they don't have to do anything on their end. When you power the phone off and back on, the phone reconnects to a local tower. Occasionally, phones will hold on to a profile of a distant tower that is either range or too far for a stronger signal. The reset solves many such issues and may prevent you from calling in for help. Just saying.....
Just another day in paradise.....
