The Motorola Edge 2022 Is Free With Budget Trade-Ins At T-Mobile

The “Uncarrier” T-Mobile has a decent deal for customers with lower-end devices willing to trade them in. The Motorola Edge 2022 is available for free when you trade in an eligible device, and the list of valid devices is pretty long.

Will this work on Visible, VZW & ATT? And for an existing TM Prepaid customer what's the cheapest way to get this? I don't have any phone on the approved list either. And how many months do I have to stick with TM & the cheapest plan? And anything else I should know. Thanks.
I will be Judged on how I helped the poor, sick & others in need; strangers & loved ones alike.

    My plans:
Visible (Verizon) UTT & Unlimited Data $25/mo
    T-Mobile Gold Rewards $10yr exp 12.25.23

    Found in some fine print....
Reminder: Choose a Magenta, Magenta MAX, or Essentials 55+ plan to receive this promotion.

So...unlocking would require 40 days of service I believe. The device should be considered paid off with the trade-in. So....it looks like a couple months of service plus whatever phone you have that might be eligible for the full value ($498) trade-in would be your cost to get the "free" phone.

Chat rep states a single line "55+ Essentials" plan would qualify, $40 plus plus

Offered to waive the $35 connection fee

Are we sure month to month is OK, just two payments?

She stated getting an Edge for Free was included for opening a "standard postpid" line

    I assume a 1-yr contract?

So is this the right math?

    2 months Magenta® 55+ ($100) + tax on $500 ($40) + activation ($35) = $175 otd = unlocked phone, free & clear & close the TM postpaid acct.

I'm choosing the $50 plan vs the $40 because t&f are included. And on the $40 plan t&f would be $8-$10 here.

Yes, the Moto Edge will be free with a new line activation. You don't need a trade.

I think you mean with a contract. This new Special Offer Promo unlocks the phone with only two months service and has only a short list of eligible trade-in devices.

OK thanks. Can you give me a "participating store" near () please?
    Laura

    12:24 PM
I apologize. But I would not know which stores will be participating in your area. What I can do is set you up today in chat and waive the device Connection fee of $35 and I can give you free 2 day shipping.

What is the timing required for the trade in? Also condition restrictions?
    Laura
    |
    12:27 PM
You need to send your trade within 30 days of activation. And your trade needs to power on, no broken screen and no liquid damage.

Also free with two year contract on eligible plan

T-Mobile covers the phone’s cost in 24 monthly bill credits, $20.75 per month.

Free with trade is 24 month bill credit.

FREE is an obscured word, your going to pay one way or another.

Sorry I was not more clear.

The topic of this thread is the Free "with trade-in" offer.

Apparently no long-term contract required, unlocked after X days then cancel.

Very limited list of trade-ins eligible.

The Free offer that does not require any trade-in, does require 2 years before you've accumulated the monthly credits.

The former is only documented by third parties so far, but the Chat reps (and some stores) should know about it.

The latter is published officially by TMO, been around since last fall.

Both are easily found by googling, just read the chat transcript I posted above.

I see no evidence of that. You get Free via bill credit without any trade-in required.

In looking over the t-mobile after, that appears to be true. If you already have a line and want a phone it might be worth it but to start service new, it's not. All the credits are in the form of monthly credits, for 24 months as far as I can tell no matter what the scenario is, new line, add a line, trade, no trade....
Plus, you pay the tax on the 498. That's 39.84 for me.

Receive up to $498 back via 24 monthly bill credits.

That's from the fine print on the trade in offer on the t-mobile site.
So either way trade or not it's a 24 month credit.
