Phone deactivated but has plenty of service time and plenty in buckets

When I try to make a call, a message says it's deactivated. Service period ends 10/04/2023. There is more than 3000 minutes/texts/data. Online account shows its still activated. This is a TCL Flip 2. In December, I switched my mom's old Tracfone phone number to this one. Her old phone was one of ones affected by the network changes so it would have stopped working at the end of December. I also combined another Flip 2 with this one to extend the service time. My mom had this in a nursing home but was not using it, so I took it back. So where did I run afoul of Tracfone's rules?

It was just probably paused because nobody was using it.

Just contact Tracfone and they will turn it back on.

I think you have to use it for something billable at least every so many months.

Tracfone notices dormant phones. Tending to the account doesn't count I guess.

Maybe pull the sim, boot up without, so you get no sim, then shut down again, and boot up with sim, maybe it will reactivate.

Maybe try turning on wi-fi, then enabling wi-fi calling once again.

On my mom's iPhone, she had to do this after reboots when she was on Tracfone. She also had to enter her 911 address again for wi-fi calling. She used to get an error message when she tried to call after a reboot, something like your feature has been deactivated.

Yours is a flip phone, but who knows, I hope it helps.

does texting bal to 611611 return a balance .... (I wonder if you text activate to 611611 if it would fix it ... )

does the website show a deactivation in manage lines/transactions

might be better to just contact support...

I texted USAGE and that returned the correct balances and service time. There's no deactivation in transactions. Everything in the account shows the phone is active. Texting ACTIVATE went off the rails when it asked if I wanted to transfer service to another Tracfone or transfer to another carrier. I stopped at that point.

Well, it started working again. Maybe texting ACTIVATE fixed it even through I didn't complete all the questions? Who knows! Do you think it not being used for more than 30 days was what caused this in the first place? Thanks for the help!

Could be. Someone had a line deactivate after one month of no use a few months ago I think and was told it was a new policy. But many people are not experiencing that or haven't up to now. Also, your line did not show as deactivated on the site or in transactions or in 611611. There was a thread the other day where someones line was mysteriously deactivated and then apparently reactivated with another plan. Tracfone weirdness.

I was starting to wonder if volte got shut off on it and it was expressing it with the deactivated message on the TCL flip 2.

That's why I was asking about text/mobile data.

I do usually try to use my active phones once a month just in case. Glad to hear its working again anyway.
