So I got a new phone and was going to move my sim to it like PP always allows and recommends. But knowing the games TF plays I thought I better check first to see if thats still allowed on PP.
I did PP website chat. 3 different CSRs said no, I need to get a new sim and do a transfer. They all said sim moves have never been allowed and the phone may work for awhile till the system sees the new imei then it won't work.
I tried a 4th CSR. Very nice and explained PagePlus Chat is now TF Chat and the reps go by TF policies. She said I needed to call the Page Plus Rep number to get a correct PP answer, she didn't know PP procedures and confirmed PP Chat, even though it's on the PP website, no longer is manned by PagePlus Reps and you need to call the PagePlus number for PP specific questions. Normal things common to TF and PP can be handled by chat.
So I called PP and the nice lady confirmed you can still swap sims with PP to a compatible phone. PP still allows sim moves and their system will auto update the imei/sim pairing unlike TF itself. She confirmed that yes, TF is much different and PP chat is now using TF CSRs that only know TF policies. One of the TF(alias PP) chat reps said they don't even have the tools for PP accounts, you need to call the PP CS number.
Anyway, heads up. I'll try the sim move as usual. The phone PP rep was confident all is good and acknowledged in not so many words that TF is goofy.

You're welcome. I've been with PagePlus since before TF bought them but they remained basically the same and are the maverick. I guess TF is beginning to wean us off PagePlus before they dump the brand. No reliable online chat is a blow, I've always used that. But the phone rep I talked to seemed very knowledgeable and I could even understand her. Hopefully others see this and I pity those that don't come into forums and use PP's online chat expecting answers that relate specifically to PP and not TF. I'm sure TF CSRs don't even know how PP PayGo works.
The last more informative chat rep I had said they'd have an actual PagePlus Support rep call me back and the new chat TF CSRs you get through PagePlus chat don't even have all the tools to service PagePlus accounts. I instead called them myself. Like I said, the phone rep was clearly understandable, no language barrier. Maybe they're more higher tier or I was lucky to get one that understood the PP vs TF differences. She even told me to call in the future if I have PagePlus questions or issues and not trust chat.
I talked to a PP rep on the phone 2 or 3 weeks ago, and was also told I can move the SIM to another phone without having to call in to pair it.

This must have been very recent that chat PP CSR went to TF CSR. A couple weeks ago I chatted with A PP CSR asking them to block texting on my 10.00 pay go PP plan. As I had been getting too many Spam text. I'm using this line as a back cup phone for calls only Changing number not worth it since this happens again on new number I can controls calls not incoming text.
As I said, even TF chat reps can fix general PP issues common to TF. They have basic tools just not things unique to PP.
Did the rep identify themselves as PP reps or you assumed they were?
In my case when after 4 chat reps said no sim swaps I asked if they're PP reps since they kept saying sim swaps were NEVER allowed and I knew they were and still are. They then said no they're TF and there were no more PP specific chat reps. I also asked what I use as my account number and pin for a port out. They said I need to call a PagePlus rep for that since TF is different.
How recent the change was I don't know. I haven't asked the sim swap question of them for a couple months.
