    Red Pocket Stopped Working

We have 2 Samsung Galaxy phones. (Mine is S9, his is S10.) We live rural, and Verizon is the only network that works here. His phone, an S10, stopped working on Feb 11. I can put his sim card in my phone and it works. I can put my sim card in his phone and it does not work. I was looking at other threads, and it seems like it is likely related to the shutdown of CDMA.

    He has mobile data.
He cannot text in or out.
When he tries to dial out, it either just drops but occasionally he gets a "Not Registered on the Network" message.
When I dial him, it goes right to voicemail.

Is there a fix? Can I expect to lose mine at some point as well? (I think mine was simply unlocked, and his is Verizon unlocked if that matters? We bought them at different times off of eBay. One thing I have noticed is that under Network Operators, his said Verizon Network and mine simply said Verizon)

    Please and thank you.

    Try this

Go to the red pocket website and to the online chat. Icon is in lower right corner. get to a live agent. They may ask for your imei and sim iccid to verify. Tell them that your account has been working fine all this while and it suddenly stopped working

Tell them that you need to have them to

"reset your account, provisioned for CDMA-Less"

This issue has happened to me and my users in the past. It's an account issue of their end in my opinion.

Getting a phone re provisioned to cdma-less or setting the hidden menu to LTE only won't always work if you're in an area that doesn't have a cdma signal. I live rural too, before the cdma shut down in certain areas of my house my phone would drop to 1x/evdo (3G). Now it will just lose signal and act like the OPs until I move to another area. Sometime cycling airplane mode on and off will make it grab an LTE signal.
Verizon wasn't good with tower infill since cdma has more range then LTE for rural areas.

Since it sounds like the OPs S9 still works and not the S10 I'd lean to VoLTE not being turned on with the S10 like @kaZZoo mentioned. Before the cdma shut down it may have been dropping to 1x/evdo and it wasn't noticed since they could still call etc. Checking if VoLTE is on was also one of the fixes.

Where are you located? I have these issues on occasion and I'm located in in the highest density service area for Verizon - NYC. The issues crop up around the time my monthly plan is going to renew for another month.

I don't think it's a phone or location issue. It's been more than a month since the so called 3g shutdown happened. Anyone who has had a problem regarding that occurred around January 3rd.

Try the chat with Red Pocket CS. Just the other day, one of my users had a weird but reoccurring problem where they couldn't receive text messages from carrier other than Verizon since Feb 12. But could receive and send text messages, make and receive phone calls and mobile data worked. Fixed by telling them to reset the account as stated earlier. Didn't even have to reboot the phone for it to start working.

I had them reset it as suggested but it did not change anything. I can't use the '*#*#4636#*#*' menu because apparently Samsung has that blocked.

I saw something about Samsung software U and U1 and have U1 XAA. And I have no idea how to check for that.

I found an app that will allow me to lock it into LTE only, that locks my Network Operators. When I dial out, it says I am not registered on a network. If I unlock the LTE via the app, Network Operators only says "Searching For Service." If I turn off "Select Automatically" and choose Verizon, it spins a while, says it registers on Verizon, goes back to searching for service.

The SIM card in my S9 is newer than the one in his phone. His has CDMA stamped across it, mine does not. And I have different options (that look newer) under Network Mode than he does. I bet if they would just allow me to swap the sim it would work, but it seems they do not allow that.

Are there any other providers that will run on the Verizon Network? This is beyond ridiculous. Red Pocket has been good in the past, but I don't even know enough about this technology to have an intelligent conversation.

Michigan. Small town you have never heard of. If you draw a triangle from Flint to Lansing to Ann Arbor, I am in the middle.

He has Red Pocket for 4, almost 5 years. We have never had a problem. Like I said, we thought it was his phone because he is really hard on phones. The new phone acted just like the old phone. Both SIM cards work in my phone.

Just spend 6 hours chatting with them. They even told me we should just use the S9. I have no tolerance for that. If I wanted only 1 phone, I would own only 1 phone.

Returning this and getting an S9 unlocked, not Verizon Unlocked, phone might be the easiest way to solve my problem.

Why not first see if RP will send you a new sim card. I'm surprised they didn't mention that. Get a new sim and transfer the service to it. New sim, fresh provisioning. All new Verizon based sims are provisioned cdma-less.

Maybe when you said you had them reset it as suggested but it did not change anything. They may have just refreshed it which doesn't necessarily change provisioning.

I suppose I could ask. Nothing to lose at this point. But the SIM I have in my S9 does not work in these phones either. I'm open to buying a new phone, or switching providers...I just want something relatively inexpensive that works at least sometimes in the middle of nowhere.

I do not know much about cell phones, as you may have guessed. Most of the fields there are not set or default, and the on/off toggle is on. It is grayed out, and will not allow me to turn it off.
