Google finds security flaws with Wifi calling

You may want to check if your Tracfone is affected.

The security flaw is with phones that have some of Samsung's own branded Exynos chipsets. So the exposure to the security flaws isn't as wide as the post title suggests.

Great, guess I can't use my new A53 for a while. Thanks for the heads-up.

The version of Exynos chipset (1280) in A53 wasn't mentioned in the Google article. However it doesn't mean A53 is out of the woods.

Here's a list of chipsets with some kinds of problems . The 1280 is not affected by the WiFi Calling & VoLTE problem (in the drop down for January 2023), but has another problem, too technical for me to understand.

The A53 does seem to be on the list:

I heard it was the modem chip, not the CPU.

Here is another post that I read about this: https://9to5google.com/2023/03/16/go...lnerabilities/

Just want to point out that the A13 on the list is a 4G phone and has a Samsung Exynos 850 chipset. The 5G version of A13 (currently selling on Tracfone website) has a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset and should not have the security flaws mentioned here.

Don't have to worry about that. Tracfone refuses to give wifi calling to my phone.

You have to worry about it unless you can use the phone without VoLTE.

The issue is most carriers but T-Mobile in select areas that still have 2G have to use VoLTE.

Verizon and AT&T has no way to disable VoLTE since they dropped their old technology.

So some people have to put up with this issue.
