Any value to old double minutes sim?

I recently migrated my MIL from TF to Assurance Wireless. I have the sim card from the TF she was using and she had DMFL. Is there any way to use this somehow going forward to get DM?

The only possible value of DMFL/TMFL is that the phone can officially use the Basic Cards which are useful when you need service days more than the bucket units. Otherwise, even with DMFL/TMFL the number of units you get are less than what you get with a Smartphone Card of the same cost.

Thank you. I understand the first sentence. Can I put the sim in my Moto G Stylus and still enjoy that benefit of being able to use the Basic Cards? What do you mean with the second sentence? Can I not purchase the smart phone cards then with that sim?

If that DMFL SIM came from a TF-branded phone, and your G stylus is a TF-branded phone, putting that SIM into your G Stylus might displace the original SIM of the Stylus.

Yes, with a DMFL/TMFL SIM you can use either Basic cards or smartphone cards.

If I could move the service of my Stylus to the old sim to be used in the stylus going forward, would you see some benefit to that? I think you're just saying that the units on the basic cards are so small compared to the smart phone plans, it's not a big benefit unless I just want to be able to buy the Basic Cards which sometimes are tricky to add onto the newer sims?

If you sometimes find that the ability to use Basic cards would be valuable, then do what needs to be done to use that DMFL SIM with your G Stylus.

I doubt that sim will ever physically fit in a newer phone.

There are SIM guillotine devices that work just fine to convert to the smaller sizes

It's a normal sim. She had already migrated from a flip phone to LG Premier Pro Plus and it's normal size.

I've always heard that you cannot reuse an old SIM from a traditional TracFone of the pre-smart phone era.

But the LG Premier Pro Plus is a smartphone.

I don't understand how a smart phone could have Double Minutes.
Seems like it would be Triple Minutes or nothing. DM was obsolete by the time the LG Premier Pro Plus came along.

DMFL could've been transferred from her flip phone to the Premier Pro Plus as a "one-time courtesy" by TF.

I'm really not sure, but like you said, the minutes that are doubled are miniscule compared to what you get with the smart phone plans. I'm not going to bother with trying to use it. As always you've brough up good points.

    Thanks everyone!
