I tether my Moto G Pure to my PC using a USB cable. Availability of unlimited (even if speed capped) data for this purpose is the whole reason I joined Visible. Works great for my needs.
Was about to do the network upgrade. Notice the description mentions unlimited Hotspot, but tethering not mentioned at all. I prefer tethering, on the assumption that a wired connection between my devices should be safer than WiFi used as means of communicating.
Checked on Visible's community forum, but did not see tethering mentioned.
Can any members here confirm that tethering does / does not survive the upgrade? Thanks!
Some carriers, and even some wireless articles, use the term Hot Spot whether using your phone as a wifi Hotspot or usb connected (thethered). Then sometimes I see the term tethered to refer to wifi Hotspot or usb connected. It's all the same, doesn't matter the method to share your data connection.
Isn't it limited to 5Mb/s speeds from the hot spot? I haven't tested the hotspot capability on Visible yet. Since that s a feature I rarely use.
Earlier this week I switched from Verizon Prepaid to Visible. Since they had a deal for only $35 a month(Visible+) that gets you 50GB of premium LTE/5G data on the Verizon network. And unlimited premium UWB 5G data on the Verizon network.
I've hit over 1.3Gb/s download speeds, with UWB 5G, on my S23+. That is crazy fast
Yes, Visible Wifi hotspot and USB tethering are throttled to 5Mbps download, subject to an additional 2Mbps throttle if streaming video.
5Mbps is adequate to get many things done. It is unlimited and $30 a month on the basic plan. 2Mbps video streaming is good enough to get HD720.
Word of the warning: I got my upgrade sim today. Now I can’t tether or hotspot my Flip 2, which I could do on the Legacy plan. I’m going to see if they can reprovision the sim tomorrow.
