Two AT&T SIMs, but one doesn't get 5G.

We've been on AT&T Prepaid for several years with two lines. I recently replaced my Note 10 Plus with the S22 Ultra and when I put my SIM in, and set up the Enhancedphone APN, the S22 Ultra got 5G service without any problem. But our other SIM that was in a S9 we put in a S20 5G and even with changing the APN to Enhancedphone it still only shows LTE/LTE+. When I go into *#0011# it shows no NR band. So I tired placing my SIM from the S22 Ultra into the S20 and 5G works. But then when using the second line SIM it won't get 5G. I even got another S20 to try, and it's doing the same thing.
So I guess I'll have to call ATT support and see if there is some type of provisioning issue on the 2nd line SIM that is preventing it from activating on 5G.

I wasn't sure if anyone else had this issue?

I can only speculate, but I suspect that the one phone line not getting 5G may lack the features required at the account level. If so, no matter what SIM you use, it won't get that 5G signal. I use the Samsung S21 5G in N. Central Florida and get 5G in most areas of use.
    Just another day in paradise.....

The old S9 SIM was probably never provisioned for 5G. Just get a new SIM, and when the CSR switches your line to it, you should be properly provisioned for 5G.

Both SIM I got at the same time, and had been used in several 4G LTE phones over the years. The SIM that I had in my Note 10 Plus the past three years I was able to put in the S22 Ultra and it activated just fine with 5G showing. But if I take the 2nd SIM that has been in a S9 the past few years and put it in the same S22 Ultra or a S20, it only shows LTE with no 5G service, even when adding the Enhancedphone APN.
So my thought was since both SIMs are the same age, but one works with 5G and the other won't, that it might have to do with the provisioning on that line. I guess I'll have to call the 611 support and see what they can do, or if it would need a newer SIM...even though I was able to use the primary line SIM (that is the same age) in 5G.

I agree that the S9 SIM does not seem to be properly provisioned, for one reason or another. If the CSR can't or won't try to reprovision the current SIM, I still say to get a new one and have a CSR switch your line to it.

Since the 3 S20 renewed units (that listed as excellent condition) for $225-$240 had too many scratches on the display, and one has the back panel falling off. So I'm sending those back for a regular S22 (not Plus or Ultra) for my mom's line and will try the SIM again in it. If it still won't activate 5G, then I'll call customer service and see if they can get it working, if it's a provisioning issue, or have to do a SIM swap.

Other than having a 5G sim only give my moto G Stylus 5G 2022 5Ge but a Galaxy A53(5G) 5G+ I have not had an issue with transferring sims.

I did have a issue on Verizon when I activated a Pixel 3A XL and when I sim swapped the 5G sim to a Pixel 7 I only got 5G not 5G UW, turns out the account never updated and so I had to call Verizon and ask for a "Manual" device change and after that the correct provisioning came through and 5G UW show up as well as my online account updated with a Pixel 7.

How old is that sim? To receive 5G on AT&T the sim card SKU must be the following: 6471C, 6531C, 6533C, 6661A, 6818B.

Both SIM cards I got (in the mail) from AT&T Prepaid in 2017. I'm not sure what the SKU numbers are unless if I could find the package they came in. But since both sims are the same age from 2017, the one that I use was able to use in a S22 Ultra and 5G+ with band n77 works just fine with downloads around 300-400mbps. But the other SIM that went from S5 to S9 and now tried in my S22 Ultra and S20 would not get 5G, only LTE.

Today we got in the S22. I tried my SIM in it first, (which was previously in a Note 5, Note 9, Note 10 Plus, and now S22 Ultra), and the S22 with my primary SIM was able to activate the S22 on 5G+ (just like with the S22 Ultra).
We then took the 2nd SIM, that was received at the same time in 2017 as the 1st SIM, which has been used in a S9 the past 4 years and tried it in the S22 (and S22 Ultra) and even with the correct Enhancedphone APN, it will only show LTE/LTE+.
So like I said before, I'm thinking it is most likely a provisioning issue, and will be calling 611 about it to see if they can fix it, or if they think it needs a newer SIM.

That is what I was saying in the second post in this thread.

Yesterday when I called, Customer service was already closed, and they are closed on Sunday. So will have to call this week. I'm not sure how late they are open during the week?

Could just be the plan or provisioning

I called tonight and had them look at my primary number and secondary number. What the issue was the 2nd line use to be on the 2GB Prepaid plan, but when it was changed a year or two ago to the 5GB plan, part of the system still thought it was on the old plan. So he had me turn the S22 off, he updated the system, turned the phone back on and BOOM...5G+ with band n77 was showing. So it was a simple fix that took about 10 minutes total. No SIM swap was necessary.
I did a Speedteat on the S22 on the 2nd line and got 240mbps.

Well after 2 weeks of using the S22 (and this week with 5G now working) my mom doesn't like it as much as her S9. She misses the Notification LED as it easier to tell there is a text or voicemail instead of the always on display; and even with the adjustments made with Nova launcher, the overall text and screen zoom is a bit different since upgrading to Android 13 One U1 5.1 with the Text Messages list.

Anyway, for the almost $500 she doesn't like it.
I did order the A54 ( two days ago before she told me this about the S22) to see if she likes the A54 better since Amazon has it for $399.

I think Sony still has the LED notification light, but they're so expensive and there's no midrange phone for the USA.
