Is that a GV thing or a keyboard thing? Meaning, does it work any differently/better/worse using another application, like email or regular texting?

Interesting.. never thought it could be the kyboard program.
But i'm using Google keyboard.
So still Google's fault
But I havent updated the kybd app. (i have Playstore set to NEVER update any app)
So what changed? (Same phone)
Updated the kybd app. Lets see if it's any better
I have to add that, because I've hardly ever used voice to text, I don't know much about it. I use Microsoft SwiftKey on my tablets and Gboard on my phones, and just a minute ago on a tablet I sent a text using VTT (that's my own new acronym) on GV. It immediately showed a big Google name and icon, so my theory now evolves into, no matter what keyboard app you're using, when you click its microphone icon to speak a text, it uses perhaps a whole separate VTT app loaded on the phone/device. In most cases of Android it'd be a Google product. In the keyboard section of Settings you can switch it on or off. But it does seem to be associated with Gboard. I wonder if Gboard was disabled (can it be uninstalled?) if that ability/capability would disappear. More exploring required I supposed. Anyway, when I dictated my text it had no trouble with vocab or punctuation. This post was thumbed. I set my PlayStore to not update anything automatically too, but I do look for the update notifications and manually do them for select apps, any keyboard in use being one of them. I update those I use (and any having a broad effect on the operation of the device) in other words. Old habit from coming up with a 16 GB storage phone.
