AT&T 25˘/35˘ per minute plan questions

Is it at all possible to activate a phone on the 25˘/(now 35˘) per minute prepaid plan?

    How about the $3/day plan?

Has AT&T discontinued activation on those plans?

I was unable to find a reference to them on the AT&T website, or a link posted to the plan page that includes them.

I read a comment somewhere that the 25˘ plan has been removed from the AT&T prepaid customers account dashboard as an option.

I read the thread about the increase to 35˘/min but wanted to create this one to focus on whether or not anyone can actually get the plans anymore.

I don't want to activate on those plans, I have cheaper AT&T MVNO service on H20 Wireless at 5˘/minute talk or per text, but there are people who still want the AT&T paygo plans.

For those who don't need much talk or text, it was the cheapest way to get service, particularly the six months service on AT&T to get their phones unlocked.

I just successfully unlocked an LG Neon Plus 2 after its being on H20 Wireless $10/90day paygo for a year. So it may be possible to use an AT&T locked phone on one of its MVNOs and be granted an unlock request.

I used the pre installed app to ask for unlock and it was very quick. It told me it was unlocked and to reboot the phone to complete it.

However I'm not sure if it's because I used the phone on H20 for so long, OR if the Neon is just old enough to be unlocked because it's not being sold by AT&T anymore.

It's still a very nice phone even if LG isn't making cellphones anymore. I paid about $70 for it from Walmart a few years ago. It's got 32gb internal memory, 2gb RAM, 3000mAh battery, Android 9, and it's one of their nicer lower end phones, compared to the TracFone LG Rebel that died on me. It doesn't have NFC or anything fancy, but it has a nice 5.5" screen.

Now I need to know if the Neon has sufficient bands to work on T-mo/Red Pocket. Not a big deal though because it's good on H20.

I liked LG phones, had a couple of them. Too bad.
Suggestion just throw $5 at Visible for a month & see if it works for you. Don't take anyone's word in place of your experience.

Any chance that had been sold as an H20 phone originally, thus the network lock was H20-specific ?

i have been reading reports for years about success unlocking ATT prepaid devices that have never been on anything other than ATT MVNO's. as if the back end system determining unlock eligibility are only checking if the device was active on ATT's network not caring what company was collecting the bill.

another interesting data point seems to be that the device IMEI never has to be provided during any transaction its enough that an active SIM was in use even if it was just swapped into the device.

cricket is on a completely different billing/activation platform and i believe usage cricket does not trigger unlock eligibility

No, I ordered the LG Neon Plus 2 on the Walmart website and it was very definitely AT&T branded. It had the usual AT&T apps installed, AT&T documentation for activation, NIB. I've never bought a phone from H20.

    Thanks for the input.

I was thinking that AT&T might not have cared because even if the Neon is whitelisted, it was an older phone. They may have felt they made enough on its service to let it unlock after a year of running on an MVNO that used its towers.
