So, did AT&T add prepaid coverage in certain European countries when I wasn't looking?

And Japan?
Interesting. If you enlarge on the Caribbean, there are a number of different islands in green.
The Prepaid International Roaming add-on lists the following countries:
Andorra
Anguilla
Antigua
Bahamas
Barbados
Belgium
British Virgin
Cayman
Dominica
Dominican Republic
England (U.K.)
France
Grenada
Germany
Gibraltar
Great Britain (U.K.)
Ireland
Italy*
Jamaica
Japan
Liechtenstein
Montserrat
Northern Ireland (U.K.)
Poland
Portugal
San Marino
St. Kitts/Nevis
St. Lucia
St. Vincent
Scotland (U.K.)
Spain
Switzerland
Turks and Caicos
United Kingdom
Vatican City
The International Travel add-on is $35 for unlimited talk and text plus 5GB of data in select countries. The data in your Add-On will rollover, if another Add-On is purchased before the current one expires. Add-On is good for 7 days. We recommend you purchase at your destination by replying to the text message you'll receive from AT&T upon your arrival or using Wi-Fi to buy from att.com/myprepaid. Italy requires that your phone's sim card begins with 8901-410.
That's interesting. They are slow on updating either the map or the list. If you plan to travel soon it would be nice to know which is right. I hope they expand their roaming offerings for pre-paid. VZ prepaid intl roaming cost a little more but they do cover more countries.

Screw AT&T with their International Roaming Add-on it is super expensive. Just finished my research for traveling to Europe and here is what I will use. First off I have a Galaxy S21 phone and it allows simultaneously to use my AT&T SIM card plus an eSIM card that I will purchase from this site:
https://esim.net/Travel/Super
Advantage it is 30 days valid has unlimited data in the UK and 30GB in the rest of Europe and costs $34. It doesn't include Japan. You get a UK telephone number for voice calls and SMS messages which is good in all of Europe. Very easy to enable and disable voice/Text as well as data roaming in the Galaxy phones.
This will work if your phone is unlocked. But if locked, you have fewer options. And probably cheaper than postpaid.
iPhone 12 Pro is my current phone I carry.
Just communicated with their support as I needed coverage in Europe for 54 days. They also have a rolling plan with Vodafone which you can cancel after 2 months.
In my past 2 trips to Europe 2016 & 2018 I used a physical SIM from Vodafone and had nothing but the best experience not paying roaming charges and having data in 6 different countries. Vodafone on their network and their associated partners started roam like at home in 2016 before the EU demanded that it be implemented country wide in 2017.
European carries are light years ahead in pricing than the US.
