If the seller says it's easy to get unlocked, tell them to do it immediately, since it was sold as unlocked. Otherwise, return it for not as described.
Is the EXACT model # on the AT&T whitelist? If yes, it will work. If not, doubtful.

I have a New in box unopened unit on its way
Turns out to be Verizon locked, although the seller did not describe it as such.
They claim to have bought it on their VZW account and that it should be easy to get VZW to unlock it since it is fully paid off.
That is incorrect, right?
My understanding is the GSM side, cannot be locked under VZW's agreement with the FCC.
Is that correct?
If so, so long as radio band compatible then it should work fine on TMO and its MVNOs, right ?
I understand AT&T requires the IMEI to have been whitelisted for its network, anybody know about this model ?
Finally, I'm hoping it will work as is even locked, on VZW subsidiaries Tracfone, activating with a virgin BYOP VZW SIM in the MyAccount app,
and Visible, via inserting an already activated SIM.
All comments and feedback most welcome, TIA

In addition to what Boz1 said, the carrier will be more reluctant to assist you since it is in the other owner's name in the cell carrier's computer system. The original owner must request the unlock if it isn't already. Just a cautious warning.
Just another day in paradise.....
The phone is in transit.
The seller has stated they "cannot" assist.
If it activates on VZW and TMO MVNOs that will be enough for me, it was a great price for NIB

If it's the same situation I had, open box/new motorola Verizon one ace 5g uw, it should work on official Verizon services but using it on an mvno, even a Verizon mvno(red pocket CDMA) required it being unlocked.
So in my case had to put it on Verizon prepaid for 2 months so it cost me 90$ extra from what I paid for the phone(roughly $108). The unlock happened roughly and automatically around the 60th day of service, unbeknownst to me. I had no way of testing, I just put my redpocket sim card in and I didn't get blocked like it happened when I initially tried it before unlock.
