for anyone in a DISH 5G area wanting to check out the service I would suggest prepaid Boost Mobile(with a 'Rainbow SIM') is the way to go in most cases.

PG is better if you are specifically after the new EDGE + device and/or want/need the 'truly unlimited data' although I would not expect to be able to get away with too much off network data usage and it appears tethering is no longer allowed on the new plan.

Project Genesis Plan and Device updates

From what I am reading on a few sources, the 2023 Edge+ on Project Genesis is using the same hybrid Dual SIM setup as the S22.

That is a bit unsurprising but still disappointing. I was hoping they would have shifted that to being strictly eSIM or strictly physical Rainbow SIM. This also continues to discourage SIM swapping and BOYD.

I don’t know much about Motorola's OS setup, but I suspect there would be fewer means to put a generic/global firmware or rooting on the device vs. the Samsung. Not very useful for Cellmapper mapping and NSG usage if neither is possible. It’s a new device in general, so that may just take time.

There must be continued issues with handing off to T-Mobile on the voice end of the Rainbow SIMs, otherwise they would have done the one SIM setup by now on these devices.

Project Genesis Plan and Device updates

Also, it appears all Project Genesis phone customers will be moved to the $25 plan as of their next billing cycle. I received an email on the change in price plan today.

This may or may not affect the free service credits people have accumulated. Don’t know for sure yet.

does the email mention anything about hotspot ? website no longer mentions it as included and the TOS does mention hotspot/tethering is only allowed if specifically included.

No, but there was never such language in past emails.

    This is the literal text:
    Code:
Your Project Genesis service plan just got better! Now, you will receive truly unlimited 5G data, talk and text for only $25 per month.
We already moved you to the new $25 unlimited plan, so there’s nothing that you need to do (aside from enjoy the monthly savings). You’ll see your new monthly rate reflected in your next bill.
Also the terms haven’t changed in nearly a year. The tethering terms you are mentioning have been in them since July.

The difference is that the eSIM is in addition to the AT&T SIM, and both have to be installed to work. You can't strictly have the Rainbow SIM as an eSIM for voice and data, just data. This is why I asked for sources on your previous reply, as this would have been new information about activation of only an eSIM.
The physical Rainbow SIM in android devices on the Boost Mobile are different, but they are whitelisted and BOYD isn'tallowed, even on previously used compatible devices.

Dish itself has announced that the iPhone isn't certified for their network yet, but hopes to by the end of the year. It's unlike to activate any iPhone, particularly the 14 series being eSIM only, on the Dish-native 5G network until then.

Apparently, there was already discussion, and proof of the hybrid Dual SIM setup for the Edge+, in a discord I am not a part of (I try not to get into non-gaming discord servers for various reasons). Before the above reddit post was published, I was given the details by screenshot. The discord link is ... (addendum: find it on the subreeddit, somehow it is being flagged as potential spam on here...)

I hadn't seen that particular post but a few others on reddit to the point it seemed common knowledge. Reddit is a more up to date source these days imo.

    Retails for $799.99 at motorola.com

1 year of continuous active service with Boost and they will unlock it.
I think if you walk into a store you get a 2022 model for $199

that makes sense, because the edge+ 2022 is $199 online now, on the boost mobile website, if you get it with the $40 plan.

i can't imagine that they are doing the 2023 version at that price with prepaid.

I’m about to buy the 2023 edge, but I noticed somebody said something about updated TOS. Are we still able to USB tether into a router or is that game over???

I’d also like to ask would using a WiFi repeater router be an alternative?? Only if we can’t usb anymore

i believe all still works but its now a TOS violation so could be consequences(such as cancellation)
