One plus Nord N30 on TF

I've been a long time Moto user on TF service, but see where this new One Plus model looks better for our needs than the Moto G 5G (2023) which I was considering to replace my older Moto G8+.Can anyone tell me if the One Plus phone will work on TF?

I don't know about the N30 which is just announced. Up until now, as far as I know, Nord phones in the US were made for T-mobile and Verizon has a nasty habit of not putting phones made for a competitor in their whitelist even when it has the needed bands to work with Verizon.

Thanks for that. I have a lot of TF resources left over the next few years, but it may be worthwhile to consider trying mint mobile, or another service to check this phone out as recent health issues are making it harder to jump thru Verizon's hoops.

BTW, the One Plus website turned out to be a nightmare and if they can't manage their site I don't think I'm interested in any of their phones

yes, the OnePlus phone should work on Tracfone (TF) as long as it is compatible with the network technology used by Tracfone. Tracfone operates on multiple networks, including GSM and CDMA.

Before purchasing the OnePlus phone, you should check the specifications and make sure it supports the network bands and technology used by Tracfone in your area. You can do this by looking up the specific model of the OnePlus phone and checking its network compatibility with Tracfone.

Additionally, if you're uncertain, you can also contact Tracfone's customer support or visit their website for information on compatible devices. They should be able to provide you with specific details on whether the OnePlus model you're considering will work with their service.

Yes only "try and see" gives certainty.

Or hands-on reports from trustworthy members here...

Relying on anything from TF especially CSRs would be foolish.

Did you know that CDMA and GSM is basically no more?

T-Mobile is only one with 2G GSM in select areas for now. After April 2, 2024, that will go away too.

Verizon does not care, so N30 is considered "GSM-only", and needs an ATT/T-mobile TFone SIM to work. If you can activate that nowadays ...

I don't know what you meant by "Verizon does not care.....". In another thread, I posted that yesterday I did a test activation of my N30 and after entering its IMEI the TF web site said it's compatible and offered to sell me a BYOP TF/VZW SIM.

Most places are still using GSM and CDMA as the network info just because people are use to looking it up that way, and it is easier that then saying the tower carrier name.

LTE and NR is different technology from GSM and CDMA, but they only share the SIM.

What that an unlocked N30, or the one bought through the Metro deal? That's interesting info!

That's the one that I bought from Metro. It's still locked to Metro, but the result from an IMEI Checker is not affected by whether or not the phone is locked/unlocked. Of the three phones that I bought from Metro (Samsung A54, Nokia G400, OnePlus Nord N30), only the N30 passed Verizon/Visble/TF IMEI Check.
