new FreedomPOP (GSMA) free plan SIM spotted at target

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably try it because (heaven knows) I need yet another phone activated. This would give me an AT&T connection.

hmm. during activations says 'no plan preloaded' and provides options to apply for ACP or get the crappy 10text/25MB plan. no time to contact support right now, cancelled and will try again later

This must be something they haven't activated yet. My local Target doesn't have the new SIMs yet. Maybe someone jumped the gun.

I'd get this. Is it the AT&T network? Because I need a AT&T glovebox phone (after Truphone dropped AT&T) to go along with my TM one. With my EDC Visible by Verizon phone I'd again be covered by all 3 networks for SHTF scenarios. And correct me if I'm wrong this is cheaper than the 300/300/300 SIM at $9.99.

I noticed it says "FPFREEACPTGT" on the sticker (in the pic in your OP). So maybe the sim is just for free ACP, sold in TGT stores?

Yes. the card also says "OR get the standard free monthly plan", which could imply needing a totally different sim etc.

That Standard Free Plan is what I have on a GSMT account. I wonder if they really plan to offer it with this SIM package.

there was also a sticker on wax paper with the ICCID number of the SIM card

for those curious the SIM begins 8901280 like many newer AT&T SIM's

That's what I'm guessing. The question is, when was it supposed to be displayed? If Target is already getting the SIMs, it must not be too far off.
