I explained that Target doesn’t want to be associated with this product, since it tarnishes Target’s brand image. I also stated that I provided the same information to corporate Target, and I asked if I could return the SIM. The manager processed the return, even though the SIM was used. For reference, the SIM was purchased in June in the store and returned yesterday. The return receipt says it was an assisted return. I cancelled the SIM in my account when the automatic topics began to happen, so the SIM was not associated with an account at the time of return. Other people may have similar success by contacting corporate or politely explaining the situation to a manager instead of to a customer service rep.
What do you mean by "topics"? Perhaps you mean "top-ups"?

Also, I personally still find value in both the FP 300/1000/100 and 100/100/100 free plans, and I don't plan to cancel them. If I get an inappropriate top-up charge, I'll simply contact FP and get it refunded, as others have reported doing.

But thanks for sharing your experience for those that might want to do a return at Target and get a refund.

I did mean top-ups. I didn’t notice that autocorrect “fixed” my response until after my response posted, and I don’t know how to edit my post.

I agree that the plans are worth keeping for some people. I actually also have a Walmart one and I am keeping it. I just shared my experience at Target because some people previously posted that a return wasn’t possible because the return period ended. My return period ended months ago, but a manager was able to return it anyway.

I only have 1 & there's no active card associated with it. It still works so I'm good.

    (NEW QUESTION) Porting-out Credentials

    Good day!

Tried to port out a number from the (nominally) Target offering using the
ten digit phone number as the Account Number and the last four digits of
the ICCID as the porting-out PIN. The PIN seems to have worked, but
    the account number was rejected.

What changed and how do I obtain the Account Number (other than by
    asking C.S.)?

    Thank you and Happy Friday.

You might try it the other way around, ICCID as account number, last four of phone as PIN.

When I ported out my GSMT line I had to call. The phone number was the account number and they gave me a pin.

    Thank you, millept!

Actually, I gave-in and chatted with whom turned-out to be
    an outstanding C.S.R. named "Luis."

Although I do not have a FOC date, the Account No. Luis
furnished hasn't (yet) being rejected by RP.

It turns out that the last four digits of the ICCID still are
    the porting-out PIN.

However, the Account No. is now a random (to me) number.

Sha'll report on the accuracy (or lack thereof) of Luis'
    credentials.

    Happy weekend to all.

Sorry, cellular-dude, your reply came-in as I was replying myself.

Apparently, the new GSMA free plan reckons the credentials differently
    than the GSMT plan.

Or, perhaps, A/C#s are created when requested -- who knows.

    Thank you all the same.

Luis' credentials were right on the money.

Received FOC date of 11/22/2023 (tomorrow).

    Life goes on.

The Freedompop 100/100/100 free plan is being sold online by Walmart now! I noticed it today, don't know how long it's been selling through Walmart. Fittingly, it has just one, 1-star review cautioning people against buying the $4.88 SIM.
Please use my referral codes - you will save money *and* you'll get great karma for helping out this starving student!
Get up to $25 off any new RedPocket plan by using RedPocket referral code 26B3C763E414EDF7
Tracfone: Sign up for new number and get $27 (possibly $52) in rewards points using Tracfone referral code - please PM me for code. Thank you!

    🙂😀

But for me, they've NEVER been available for purchase. Also, if you look back in this thread since robbyrobby noticed that they showed up in August, I've noted seeing a variety of pricing at walmart.com, but there has always been none available for me to purchase, no matter what price was showing.

From what I can see they are now available for shipping and there's one store in my area that supposedly has them in stock... Well, maybe. I was able to put four in my cart (one at a time), when I put the fifth one in it cleared the whole cart and I got this message... "Sorry! This item is out of stock. Unable to add to cart: FreedomPop Starter SIM Kit: 100% FREE Wireless Service." So it looks like the limit is four.

I'm not buying any, I was just curious. I've still got the WalMart T-Mobile one and the Target one – though I almost never use them because I don't want to see a $10 charge and I don't trust FreedomPop after what I've read.
