Add Service From Orbic Flip To Pure with UT&T

I wanted to start a fresh thread for this topic. There have been some other conversations that touch on similar subjects. Maybe it will help people who have a similar situation going on.

I have a TracFone Pure running on a 30 day UT&T plan and it will expire 9/14/23.

I would like to add the airtime balance to it from one of my Orbic flips that came with a year's service.

    Any critical advice?

Because of the problems occasionally encountered with stacking plans when a phone has UT&T, that's why I ask before going in.

The phones are in two separate accounts. Should I move the Orbic to the account the Pure is in first?

Then, what is supposed to happen (as opposed to what could happen or go wrong)?

Will the UT&T plan still show when I check my balance with BAL or USAGE texted to 611611, and the 30 day expiry date for it...? And when the 30 day plan expires, the added Orbic service will show up with the 3 buckets and remaining service date in place of the UT&T?

Is the transferred Orbic service supposed to show in my TF account under the Pure's number along with the 30 day plan's remaining service?

Has anyone performed a similar transaction and had it go okay... Or did it go badly?

My other option is to add a 60min/90day card for $20 and then wait to combine the Orbic's airtime until after the 30 day UT&T expires and the 90 day card (hopefully) takes over.

The $4.99 refurb My Flip on TF's website requires a plan purchase (19.99 minimum) and I could get that, but to unlock the flip it would have to be active 60 days before the transfer transaction is performed. I want to get one to use on H20.

I was also thinking of reactivating a TF Moto E with a transfer from the Orbic flip, adding it to the account my Pure is in, and then transferring the service to the Pure from the E.

Yes the two phones / lines MUST be in the same MyAccount.

The best way is if you do not care about phone numbers.

    > add the airtime balance

    Replace, not "add"

Wait until the UNL plan on phone B has expired. Then re-activate it, specifying you want to Transfer, input the Line A currently active phone number.

That will MOVE that line with its year's service time+bucket balances over to your Pure, and deactivate the flip.

This should be 100% straightforward, it is only a difficult issue if you are trying to keep phone B's phone number, which is Combining the service time+bucket balances, deactivating phone A's number.

The UNL vs PayGo issue is gone once you let the UNL expire.

Do not complicate things, use your Pure on the existing PayGo plan for a week or two, no UNL overlay until you are certain everything is stable.

And after that if you do want to add UNL just do one card at a time, let it expire before adding the next one

and in the interim between UNL cycles, keep the PayGo buckets topped up as your stable fallback.

Then yes you need to wait 61 days, confirm unlocked before doing anything else.

Sounds OK, but simpler is in general better.

Whatever you do, follow my above "testing period" advice in between operations.

And just stick to PayGo cards only until things are all settled the way you want, adding an UNL card overlay comes last, just like converting to eSIMs.

For unlocking purposes, if I let the Pure expire before moving the service to it, would that be deemed "interruption of service" ?

The phone number doesn't matter in this case because neither phone involved in the transaction is a main phone number used for accounts.

I successfully moved the Orbic flip to the account my Pure is in, by going into the account it was in and choosing to remove it.

Then I logged into the account the Pure is in and chose to add it. No CSR involved at all.

My intention was to reactivate a Moto E with the Orbic, use it on the service until the Pure plan expires, then move the E's service to it to reactivate.

Would the Pure still be able to be unlocked?

The E is already unlocked so deactivating it with transfer to the Pure wouldn't matter.

In the attempt to reactivate the Moto E using a transfer from the Orbic, using the ACTIVATE option on the TF website, I entered the IMEI and the webform said the SIM was invalid and I have to order a new one.

I started a chat to try to get the phone activated to see if I got a different answer.

The CSR Edgar asked for both IMEI & SIM, and he too said that I needed to buy another SIM.

I asked if it was possible to use a SIM from a bring your own device kit that was purchased on TracFone's eBay store and he said if it was new, yes.

I told him I bought it a couple of years ago and he said that I couldn't use it because the new SIMs are 5G and the old ones are all 4G.

Ummm.... none of the phones I am currently using are 5G phones and therefore would not need a SIM that uses 5G.

I recently reactivated a Moto 2021 Play that had its original SIM in it and I purchased it around the same time I bought the Moto E or a little later. I wasn't told I needed to buy a new SIM for that one.

I did unlock the E and use it on Red Pocket / TMO for a year, but I replaced that SIM with the original TF-VZ SIM.

How does the process work for pairing a replacement TF-VZ SIM from a kit with a phone that's been previously activated/deactivated?

Has anyone here recently done a transaction like that?

I bought the two BYOD 3 in 1 SIM kits from TF eBay store around January 2022. Would they be okay still?

It was getting late in the day here and I was afraid the chat reps would close up shop, so I went ahead and stuck one of the bring your own device SIMs in the Moto E and started a chat to activate it.

The CSR was Vilma and she got the E activated with the TF-VZ BYOD SIM. She didn't seem to have any problems and it activated almost immediately as soon as I rebooted the phone.

Lest I get too happy too soon, I'll have to wait and see if the Sim deactivates itself. If it's good and doesn't deactivate itself, then I had an unusually lucky day.

Yes old SIMs do expire eventually, but the 4G vs 5G thing is irrelevant.

From last year should be fine, other than seeing an explicit Activate By expiration date.

On TF a locked phone only needs to get successfully activated then wait 61 days.

No need for it to stay activated that whole time.

    Usually.

Best to just use a new BYOP SIM by default.

Re-using SIMs can be hit or miss, many factors involved.

But keeping a bundled phone SIM on hand for future use is apparently a good idea for some scenarios.

I have an extra BYOD SIM kit I bought in January 2022, and since this activation seems to have worked, I'll keep it on hand. I may buy another newer kit since they're cheap.

I'm thinking of reactivating the Orbic flip with another of my active TF numbers. It's the number I wanted to save for porting because it was easy to remember.

My concern is that the flip might reactivate with its old service that was used yesterday to activate the Moto E.

I want to do it manually in my account rather than with a CSR, taking screenshots of the balance in advance.

A CSR might help document the activation in case anything goes wrong, but I thought it might go faster if it's done directly through my account. I would first have to move the Moto G Power to my other account where the flip is.

Unless you have more than four lines active easiest to have them all in one MyAccount.

Long-term inactive devices can get consolidated to another NBD if the account goes poof
