How much data will maps use on hotspot?

I posted a similar post but its not showing:

I have the basic unlimited plan with 3GB of hotspot.

Does anyone know approximately how many hours per monthly 3GB allowance of using Google Maps I'd be able to use with my 3GB hotspot allowance? Meaning 10, 20, 40 50 hours etc.

I am not sure on the data usage, but I think if you pre-download the maps and set it for WiFi only in maps app, it will use very little data.

This is true. I do it. Without data you won't get traffic info.

I measured it once. It was about 5MB for a one hour trip. Exactly how much depends on how many roads there are in the area you use it. More roads means more data to download.

Let me ask this. I have a tablet that connects to my cell via BT.

    1. Is this still tethering and is there an added cost or is that a thing of the past and my unlimited data covers the communication between cell and tablet via BT?

    2. Is this even possible to use Google maps or even Android Auto from my cell to the tablet using my BT?

This is all because my truck doesn't have GPS or any entertainment built into the 5 inch display.

Tethering means wired via USB or Ethernet or WiFi obviously for normal hotspotting.

If there are tether-like options using BT connections, they are very low bandwidth, try a file transfer, they take forever.

I would mount a small tablet, Lenovo Tab M9 2023 currently sells for $100

But a phone using voice navigation works too...

Thanks. I have an older Lenovo Tab4 10 but it doesn't have the option to select hotspot as I've seen online even though it is wifi capable.

Hotspot isn't on the tablet. It is on the phone.

Hotspot on a phone creates Wifi to connect the tablet to.

Wifi hotspot, USB tether, and Bluetooth all count the same for phone hotspot use.

As stated, only the SOURCE device has hotspot controls.

To the receiving devices, it's just another WiFi access point like your router at home.

Thanks. Of course your both right. I got somewhat confused in readings I found about a hotspot for the tablet but guess they referenced using the tablet as the hotspot which isn't possible in this case as it can't connect to a cellular plan.

It is wifi though so I guess I just let the tablet discover my cellular hotspot in the same manner my tablet discovers my home wifi.
