Any way to stay logged into T-mobile account?

Elderly relative's legacy gold plan is expiring next month, and T-mobile won't let me log in without sending a verification text to the phone #. They don't know how to retrieve texts (candybar phone) and are in another state so I have to arrange for them to go to the T-mobile store to see if the staff can get the text. Real hassle, but luckily I only have to refill once a year...

The website used to ask the security questions before letting me in, but I noticed they started doing the text verification last year. And it only lasts a month before they need the text again... I used to check their account balance periodically but haven't for almost a year due to the hassle, I figure they'll let me know if they can't make a call.

Any way you've found to not require the text verification every month? The app perhaps, but I read somewhere it doesn't work for T-mobile Prepaid??

See if they have someone nearby that can help read texts (one-time hassle) -- have them call you separately with verification texts while you try to setup 2FA in their online TMo account using any authenticator app

Login to TMo account then copy/paste:

    https://account.t-mobile.com/sap/v2/profile/security-dashboard

After that it should give you option for text or 2FA code to login so you don't have to bother with texts

TMo website says Google Auth but you can use any (I use Authy) -- setup Authy or any app using your number/email so you can access it yourself (TMo website will give QR code for you to scan to link it)

I have Authy installed on my iPhone and Windows laptop so I can access 2FA codes from either device -- afterwards I disabled "multi-device" option in Authy

Oh wow, this is really good info! It took them 6 hrs to figure out how to get the text last time, I think they went and got someone to help but who knows how it will go this time.

I am not familiar with these Authenticator apps at all so I'll do the research. Also I had no idea there was a way to disable the text option, will definitely look for that after I get in. Surely I wish I had set it up last year when I finally got in!

No way to disable text option but it'll show both text or auth options so you can use auth instead to avoid bothering them for text -- previously it was text or email

I also turned on ask for verification code each time you login -- I enter my username/password then it'll ask for text or auth code to complete login (not that much of a hassle since I only login a few times a year)

Got it. I'm getting educated about Authenticators on the T-mobile Subreddit right now. Literally had no idea this was an option, and I really appreciate your responses!

Okay I'm reading over on the T-mobile Subreddit that 2FA/Authenticator won't work for Prepaid accounts. Is your account Prepaid-only and you got Authenticator to work? Thanks.

I have 2 separate legacy gold accounts -- enabled 2FA on both yesterday after making $1 payment to extend 1yr

TMo actually took me to security dashboard after login so that's how I found out

Thanks! I'll update after I give this a go next month. Glad the $1 refill is still working!
