While this was announced on Reddit since I kinda hang there more often now, here it is for the HoFo Community:
So I was Browsing a prepaid phone at Walmart when I saw something interesting, a brand new offering from AT&T that only shows up on the Walmart AT&T hub but not AT&T's Prepaid website.
AT&T Unlimited Max Plus:
- Unlimited Talk, Text, Data
- Like Unlimited Premium our highest postpaid plan, your data will be prioritized and won't slow down based on how much you use*.
- Unlimited Talk, Text, and Data in the US and Mexico. Unlimited Talk and Text with a 25 Gigabyte data limit in Canada.
- 35 Gigabytes of Mobile Hotspot Usage per month
- HD Streaming Available
- 100 Gigabytes of AT&T cloud storage included
- 500 calling minutes to 30+ Countries outside of the US. Call must originate inside the US.
Price: $65 per month with Auto Pay or $75 per month without auto pay.
*Disclaimer: Unlimited does not mean unreasonable, data usage subjected to review at 1 Terabyte of data used. 5G Requires phone that is on the AT&T whitelist, New 5G Sim Card(eSims are already up to date), and a 5G Capable phone. Xiaomi/Redmi/Infinix/Poco and other chinese phones are not certified or approved for the AT&T network, they might work but may have limited to no service in some areas/less then optimal network performance in general.
Have a phone and want to use it on AT&T? check this list out to see if your phone was Certified/Approved for the AT&T network. (Updated August 22nd, 2023) Link: https://www.att.com/scmsassets/suppo...tt-network.pdf
Straight Talk/Tracfone AT&T sim users: It has been said that your service may be discontinued on Nov 2024 since Verizon acquired all Tracfone brands. Your current sim is based off Sim SKU: 4488A which is not 5G/5G+ Compatible so before the service discontinuation happens you will need to jump to AT&T Prepaid or any AT&T MVNO's to continue to receive AT&T service and updated 5G technologies.
Home Entertainment: T-Mobile 5G Home Internet, Roku Streambar(Sound Bar/Roku all in 1).
Landline: N/A
Mobile Entertainment: AT&T Unlimited Starter for primary device, AT&T Starter Family line for secondary.

To get the plan you either need to Visit a Walmart store or Sign up for the regular Unlimited plan on AT&T's prepaid website and then switch to the new plan after activation in the web portal.
Some Walmart's are currently sold out of AT&T prepaid sim kits so you either have to ask an AT&T store for a sim or you can go onto eBay/another store and buy one.
Note*: Currently AT&T is shipping the sim SKU: 6533C which is the current most up to date 5G sim. Sim kits at Walmart, Best Buy, Doller General are a different SKU but still 5G capable. AT&T is also transitioning some of their sim cards to 8901"280" while the prepaid ones are 8901"410".
What makes you say that?
Walmart does not sell for AT&T Postpaid
I was under the impression that pre-paid means buying airtime in advance, loading it onto the phone, and therefore not having a monthly payment. What's being described here is unlimited talk, text and data for a monthly cost of $65 or $75, and sounds like a monthly plan. Maybe they're changing the definitions now. Pre-paid (in the traditional sense) seems to be something they're discouraging people from having. The cost for me has increased by 3.5x the cost per minute since I first started using it, and now they even stopped extending the deadline for people who have built up an excessive balance.
You are talking about the old fashion pay as you go plan, which ATT no longer offers. Most prepaid carriers nowadays sell monthly plans, though some offer annual (often as 12 30 month plans).
iPhone 12 Pro is my current phone I carry.
Yes prepaid means pay in advance, postpaid means you pay after the cycle, usually more expensive and requires a credit check.
These days there is ALWAYS a fee per month, just to keep the line active
Many if not most plans just give unlimited talk minutes and SMS as part of that.
The definition of "PayGo" these days is more Data GBs oriented, that is usually what determines pricing.
These days 10-20 GB/mo is pretty low usage.
For me the ideal is low cost on the fixed component, and reasonably price per GB as optional add-on when needed.
Ideally with rollover data not expiring as long as as you keep paying the basic line fee.
Examples: Tracfone PayGo is $3-5/mo, but GBs are $10 each.
Mobile X is $2 /mo line charge $5 for unlimited T&T, can omit T&T completely for data-only
$2.10 / GB add-on, does not expire
So in effect UTT 1GB plan is $8.59/mo

Well, I guess I'm a little behind things here. I had no idea.
It's only a matter of time before I can no longer buy minute cards (codes) to keep my phone going.
Not sure what to do now on Sept. 28th when my balance expires. I've been paying $100 a year and it's been more than enough to get me through the year with plenty of balance left over. Now the best they offer is $300 a year and it's gone after the year is over no matter how little I use the phone.
EDIT: On top of that, I just now discovered that the $100 card option doesn't expire after a year anymore. Now it's only 3 months. There's a $300 now and that one lasts a year. But if I can't use up $100 in a year, how am I going to make use of $300???
I think I'm going to be done with AT&T after this month after being with them almost my whole life, unless they're willing to work with me somehow.
I also just discovered that AT&T prepaid isn't being offered by Callingmart.com anymore, unless it's under a different name I'm not recognizing.

That's wrong. You should check the actual source, not a 3rd party site.
https://www.att.com/legal/terms.prep...r%20expiration.
"Payment amounts expire as follows: $10 to $24 expires in 30 days, $25 to $99 expires in 90 days, and $100 or more expires in 1 year. Account balance is not refundable and is forfeited at expiration date. Accounts will be cancelled 60 days after expiration."
Also, you could get a LOT more service for $100/year with a different service vs paying AT&T's paygo rates, OR you could pay LESS than $100/year for similar service, if you're interested.
Actually, this might fit your usage needs for $0/mo:
-FreedomPop (AT&T)-
https://www.target.com/p/A-88685142
$0/30 Days
Includes 100/100/100 Each 30 Days
Educate yourself. 90% is google-fu, reading old threads and asking the right questions, getting more specific as you go.
I suggest starting your own thread in the General Discussion sub.
You need to figure out how many GB per month you need, and how consistent that is.
Also if VZW or TMO towers will serve the places you go as well as ATT.
For flexibility while testing and researching, do not commit to any annual plan yet, just do month to month
