    Wifi Calling on old lines

I know that getting WiFi calling activated on old TracFone lines has been a hassle. My new phones always said they were compatible but they would never activate. Apparently to fix it you had to call in to the corporate office and hope that you can find someone that would provision your account for WiFi Calling.

Well, I just picked up the TracFone Moto G Stylus 5G (2021) and by some kind of miracle WiFi calling works.

Did this specific device cure my account, or did TracFone fix all accounts to have WiFi calling?

Just a roll of the dice with non-VZW-family branded BYOP, and especially non-flagship factory-unlocked units.

A recent model TF bundle phone should vastly increase the odds.

I've found TMO network to be best (not TF) for that specific feature, especially for 2FA use heading overseas.

Ultra Mobile PayGo was best for that now Tello

I don't know what you mean by an "old Tracfone line" but I've have my phone number on TF since 2015. I put my third TF phone (Android 11) on that number about 4 months ago. It can do Wi-fi calling, I didn't even know that was a thing and I didn't ask for it. It just works.

There was a time a year or so ago when WiFi-Calling feature was difficult to activate. One of the issues seemed to be with phone numbers that had been on TF/ Verizon at some point. There was a provisioning problem with the account that CSRs may or may not be able to fix. I bought a TF branded Moto Power that could not activate WiFi-Calling. The phone was activated with a transfer from existing TF/Verizon sim. Won't go into the idiot reasons I was given, including the phone didn’t support it.. The way I fixed it was to buy a new sim and activate it as a new line with new phone number...Bingo...WiFi-Calling worked.. I then just combined balances and all was back. The only way I was able to do it was because I didn't care about keeping phone number.

Yeah, I've had this TracFone line since 2009, if not earlier.

My last two phones, Moto G Power 2020 and Moto G Stylus (both TracFone branded) have both received messages upon activation saying they were WiFi Calling enabled, but it would never work.

There was a thread on this forum about this issue and the only solution was to call a specific TracFone corporate extension and hope they knew what buttons to push in your account. I couldn't find the thread in a search.

Upon activation of this Moto G Stylus 5G 2021 (also TracFone branded) it started working. I just wonder if the accounts have been fixed or if it will stop working with my next phone...

They may have figured it out and fixed the provisioning. And yes, there were a couple of heavily posted threads about this a year or so ago.

I have 2 TCL Flip 2 phones. Both bought from Trac. One is on Trac VZ, and the number , I have had at least 10 years. No wifi calling. Trac says it is not wifi capable. (really?) The other I got unlocked, and is on Red Pocket T Mo. Wifi calling has worked from day one. Go figure! Oh, and by the way, what is a wifi calling sim card? This is listed as a requirement for Trac's wifi calling. I have never seen a sim card that that claimed to be a wifi calling sim.

Having wifi calling on Verizon vs T-Mobile are 2 different animals. Verizon is way more restrictive then T-Mobile as far as allowing a phone to have wifi calling. Just because a phone is capable doesn't mean a network approves a specific feature on their network.
As far as I know, nothing to do with the sim. It's how the sim is provisioned by the carrier.

I don't recall any sim requirements for TF/Verizon but TF/AT&T required a sim with 27 or higher in the 9 and 10th position to support some advanced functions.
