RedPocket newbie: how best to refill...

sorry for the RP newbie question, but... what is the best way to refill/renew RedPocket annual (360) plans?
I just bought into RP's $60/yr GSMA plan, where "$60" magically became $76... I'm sure at the end of 359days, they'd love for me to give them another $76. Is there a better way?

I've been using Callingmart for PagePlus, Tmobile, H2O and VZW prepaid. It seems to help avoid all the extra fees and taxes. Callingmart also offers RP refills but not in $60 denominations.

So whats the best method for renewing such RP 360 plans? Does it work like VZW where there is just a pot of $$ in the account and the system automatically grabs what it wants at renewal time? Or it it like PPC, where there are specific plan renewals that you must buy specific to the plan that you have else you might be shifted into another plan? Can I just overfund RP (more than $60 in credits) and the renewal will happen automagically? Is there a vendor better than Callingmart for these RP plans? I'd really rather not have to pay RP $76 for a $60 plan...

First you didn't tell us who charged you $76. Without knowing if it was eBay or not. I suggest eBay.
Visible (by Verizon) receive $20 off the first month. Please use referral code: 36csHv - https://www.visible.com/get/?36csHv

I will be Judged on how I helped the poor, sick & others in need; strangers & loved ones alike.

    My plans:
    Visible (Verizon) UTTD $25/mo
    T-Mobile Gold Rewards $10yr exp 12.25.23
    FreedomPop (AT&T) Target $4.99 once 100 TTD a month each 29th

it was RP themselves who charged $76, $16 more in fees and taxes. Most was this regulatory surcharge of $12 and $4 of addn taxes.

So eBay and not a place like Callingmart?

If you choose the Renewal option, i.e. activation code only, on ebay and use your "beach house" address, there's no tax or fees. Otherwise, ebay collects your state sales tax, e.g., 6.5% for me. Their website charges the flat $12 plus telecomm fees/taxes.

On the other hand: In Nov., the fee/tax portion on a $300 plan was only $3.91. So, it actually cost me less to purchase from the website ($15.19 vs $19.50/state sales tax) even without the beach house option. I didn't use the beach house option because the ebay plan was for a 20GB plan vs a 25GB plan on the web. For $1.32/mo ($15.91/12) I got an extra 5GB/mo even if I didn't use my beach house address.

So, yes, ebay store works for you. It didn't work for me for my higher-priced plan. I bought my $60 and $30 plans on ebay.

Thanks. So suggestions as to where my beach house should be? Oregon? Neveda?

One more question: The ebay version of the RP $60/yr plan is for 100/100/500 but the $60/yr plan I got from the RP site is 500/500/500. Can I still buy the $60/yr renewal from ebay and not have them bring me down to 100/100/500 ?

I recently renewed my dad's $60 plan via eBay and when I applied the activation code the description showed 500/500/500.

In August I bought the $60 plan, for a new line, from the RedPocket site and I got 500/500/500.
I used to be wishy-washy, now I'm not so sure.

ok.. as did I... so how are you planning to renew it once 360 days are up? will you be able to avoid the $16 extra in taxes and fees that I was dinged with?

I'll probably buy from the Redpocket store on eBay, unless I end up going with some other company.

One point is that you can set up autopay on the Redpocket site. So it would be $5 less because of the autopay discount ($60 - $5 discount) plus the $12 plus the taxes. But you have the convenience of not having to remember to refill.
