    Is it even possible?

    Hello,
I was gifted a new phone without really looking into it before leaving the USA some 3 weeks ago, thinking that unlocking wouldn't be an issue from where I live. But of course I live on a remote island and there is 1 store that does IT and cell phone work and before leaving it with them (they've already said depending on the phone, the carrier, etc it may not even be possible to unlock) so, I want to tackle this without having to go to them first. The phone was given to me by my bio. dad, who uses T-mobile, it's a Revvl and I've done the whole standard process of going into settings and trying to permanently unlock with no luck. I guess before I go further I want to know if anyone knows if this particular phone will even be operational and fully functional outside the States with a European carrier?
Thanks for any tips or help.
    Best,
    Bentley.

It would also help to know which cellular carrier you are currently using and which international carrier you want to use it with.

it is standard that you have to use it 40 days inside the network and it has to be fully paid off in order to unlock it.

Sure, this phone was through a T-mobile account from the person who gave it to me. Trying to use the phone with Movistar

Thanks for the information! I guess using it on that network wasn't a possibility but I'll still look for alternatives

Exactly what happens when you put in a Movistar SIM? Do you get a message?

If it's really still SIM card slot locked, you'll need to have your dad get it unlocked, although I don't know if that process uses codes, or if it requires being connected to the T-Mobile network.

    Hello!

Basically I get the same messages that I got when tried to unlock in settings. My dad stateside is going to try to call Tmobile and do this, https://www.theinternetpatrol.com/ho...iles-blessing/

    at any rate,

I took pictures of the messages that popped up when inserting the Movistar sim but for whatever reason I can't get the .jpgs to upload here.

    They say:
    "Network Lock:
This device can be remotely unlocked if eligible. Please use the Unlock application to unlock the device. Make sure the device has an internet connectivity to use the Unlock application."

    shortly after, this pops up:
    "Unlock Failed

Unlock Failed: This mobile device is not eligible for unlcok. For device Unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Care. (SERVER ERROR: ERROR CLODE=255)"

If your father can get T-Mobile to approve the unlock, you should be able to connect to WiFi and the unlock app in the phone settings should work.

If the phone has "served its time" with the original carrier, it should get unlocked but you'll need to be on wi-fi for the unlock to go through.
(No idea about your question regarding whether it will work on a European carrier after unlocking - I've never been outside the US! so have absolutely no idea about overseas carrier issues!)
