    Replacement Phone for Cricket

My sister-in-law uses Cricket. Apparently her phone quit working so my wife wants to find a temporary replacement. Looks like all the phones listed on Cricket's site are priced for new activation. I know AT&T seems picky about activating phones, but can I buy a used (or new), inexpensive, unlocked Cricket phone and have her move her SIM into it? I know nothing about Cricket. Is there a good place to buy a replacement phone for her?

I don't know much about Cricket either. But if you're going to buy a used Cricket-branded phone, it doesn't need to be unlocked.

If you're going to buy her an unlocked phone to be used as Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) and can get the IMEI from the seller, run it through this Cricket IMEI Checker to see if it's compatible.

If your TCL Flip 2 on Tracfone is unlocked and she doesn't object to using a flip phone temporarily, check its IMEI and see if it's compatible. I just checked my TF-unlocked TCL Flip 2 (T408DL) and it's compatible with Cricket.

She could get a Samsung A14 5G from Cricket for $100 (plus $25 upgrade fee). Select "Existing" customer and "I'm upgrading my phone". The phone should be able to be unlocked after 6 months.

What is the price range and what features does your sister-in-law need/want with the phone? What was her old phone?

You can look on sites like Swappa for an unlocked used phone.

Sorry, I forgot I posted. My wife and I decided it would be best for her to just go to Cricket and let them sort it out. They would know the best replacement path. I'm pretty sure she wanted a smartphone (to respond to hpham's comment). Budget, I'm pretty sure, was pretty low. Cricket might even be able to figure what's going on with her current phone — apparently it starts to boot and stops, so it might be fixable.

Thanks everyone. Sorry I forgot to come back sooner.
