Is it too all types of phones or selected few people?
If it is select few people, what was your old phone?
MMS not working on new TCL phone. SMS works...data works...phone works. What are some ideas for a remedy for this?
Thanks for all ideas..

2 different people with 2 different phones....an iphone and an android phone.
Confirm what the APN is currently set at. What make/model # is the phone? Hard to troubleshoot without knowing more.
You should check that MMS is currently active at the account level. As a former CS rep for At&t we occasionally ran across phones when data and voice were active, but MMS was not properly activated at the account billing level, causing the same type of issue.
Just another day in paradise.....
UPDATE: I used tracfone chat and they were able to get it working after about an hour. Said they made an "adjustment" on their end, but did not give details. It seems to work with the Google message app, but not with my preferred message app, which is "Textra" which has always worked in the past....that seems odd...??
Did you enable RCS aka chat settings? The last time I knew third party apps apps does not work with RCS yet.
Don't know what RCS is, but when its enabled, using google messages, mms works. When its disabled, mms does not work. When enabled i can send and rec'v mms to my wifes tracfone, but my neighbor never gets the mms, and i never rec'v her mms???? I'm thinking of going back to my previous Moto Power phone where all of this stuff worked. My wife has a TCL A3 and everything works for her....my new TCL A3x is having the issues...
RCS should be the replacement to MMS/SMS, but since Apple does not support it, it is not a widespread enabled thing yet.
It should work between other RCS users when it is enabled, and it should fall back to SMS/MMS when the user does not support RCS. If RCS is disabled, SMS/MMS should work like normal.
You may already know this but MMS requires cellular data to be on. Not WiFi. Some phones will turn on Data to send/receive MMS (there may be a setting like Auto Download.) If RCS is enabled and connected, it uses WiFi or Data and treats all texts like MMS. There is also a setting to send text as SMS if RCS is not available.
Yea, all MMS needs cell data. I know that select few people when they enable RCS, it sometimes enabled WiFi SMS/MMS, but it is rare to have this happen. There is no easy way to check this from what I understand.
While RCS can use either WiFi or data.
UPDATE #2: with RCS disabled, between to tracfones(android)...no mms. With RCS enabled on both phones, mms works.
Wife's tracfone with RCS enabled, mms works with iphone, my tracfone with RCS enabled, mms does not work with iphone..???
Did you have an iPhone at any time? How long have had the phone number?
If you have RCS enabled one both phones, that uses RCS over SMS/MMS. It might look like MMS, but it is RCS.
Did the iPhone user have an Android in a last few years?
its my neighbor, don't know those answers. She has probably had an iphone for years... We've never had iphones...
I know there has been reports of MMS issues, but I never could get any good troubleshooting done with them like you have done.
I am at a lost what is going on with MMS and etc still then.
I thought it was my new TCL phone, but i'm not sure now. I've never had an issue before with mms and I know I converse with others, most of them have iphones, so I'm at a loss...
