    Redpocket Verizon - 5G Google Pixel 7a

Right now, I have Redpocket T-Mobile with my Pixel 7a. Areas where I always had service before are now going to Edge. I like to listen to streaming music while walking and yesteday it kept cutting out (going to Edge) for almost half the walk. I used to have Redpocket Verizon but switched because Verizon didn't allow 5G at the time (with a Pixel 5a). Has that policey changed and can I use a Verizon sim with a 5G phone now? If not, I'll go with an ATT sim but, if it is possible, I'll go with a Verizon sim.

    Thanks!

Focus on choosing the network that gives you the best signal coverage for your area.

Never mind about 5G, that helps with reducing congestion issues only, rarely does it extend geographic coverage.

Ignore speed differences so long as you get over 10Mbps most of the time.

Get two more SIMs, one for each network and swap out at marginal locations.

Fact that you have a dual SIM phone lets you use one as fallback secondary too

    not necessarily both on RedPocket

It's also been reported in another forum that the pixel 5a will only get the NW DSS(shares LTE) 5G bands and no UW5G. Don't know if that's important to you but NW DSS 5G isn't really much if at all better then LTE. But also it's been reported elsewhere that Verizon is cutting back on LTE in favor of 5G in some areas.

I'm not really concerned with speed except for Edge. Previously, Verizon MVNO sims wouldn't work in 5G phones at all. That's what I'm concerned with. Verizon works really well in my area and that would be my preference but ATT would be fine.

My current phone is a Pixel 7a. It was when I got the 5a that I found out it wouldn't work with a Verizon MVNO (Redpocket) sim. I want to make sure before I go through the hassle of switching sims with Redpocket that it will work with my current phone.

I've been using VZW MVNO SIMs in 5G phones for years.

Sometimes to get 5G service, newer SIMs were required.

Them continuing such stupid policies would just be shooting themselves in the foot, more traffic moving to 5G increases their profits.

That's right, sorry you have the 7a now so should be good to go. Assuming of course it's unlocked.
But even now that 5G is alive and well on Verizon a 5a still wouldn't give you everything 5G in case anyone out there has one.

I've got Verizon NSA(non stand alone) 5g on Red Pocket with my Google Pixel 6A.

It was also working on my Motorola Ace 5G UW but only with NSA, not UW mode.

You should be able to get 5g on your 7a.

Sent from my Pixel 6a using HoFo mobile app

Want to compare to US Mobile.

Not that I would ever go back to them or recommend them.

Extra 5gb data PLUS better overall service.
    On the Verizon network.
    Activate on e-Sim or P/Sim
