T-Mobile cancelled planned 2G sunset in April 2024

Updated (as of Feb. 7 2024) T-Mobile Network Evolution page https://www.t-mobile.com/support/cov...work-evolution has been changed

While we have not yet established an exact date, we will notify you in advance when we plan to retire T-Mobile's older 2G (GSM) network. Please be aware that as we work towards this retirement, capacity and coverage of the T-Mobile 2G (GSM) network will change as some 2G (GSM) sites will come down prior to the full network retirement.
On Jan. 14 this page stated

On April 2, 2024, T-Mobile’s older 2G GSM network will be retired

There's no hurry. It's not like it takes much resources to keep it operational where it is operating.

Ironically, ive seen that April 2 date for many months now.
Personally, it doesn't bother me much. TMobile did decommission its 2g only site at Gaviota beach... but doesn't acknowledge it.

Well sounds like their giving customers with old GSM devices, aka alarm systems, and other GSM only devices more time to upgrade?

Something tells me that they fell behind schedule in some areas to upgrade some of their services. Whether it's to 5g (assumed they want to have all equipment updated). While I know of 1 site that is/was 2g only... I suspect that others may be old(er) LTE/2g somewhere in America that need updates or become a problem later
