How to verify a phone is unlocked

How can I verify if a phone is really unlocked without using a 'foreign' SIM? I got my phones unlocked using a DCT 4 code generator, and each phone accepted the first code at first try. The phones would be used abroad with local prepaid SIM, so it would be a bummer if it turns out the they are still locked. Any thoughts?

Also, what would happen if one enters another unlock code into a phone that is already unlocked - would it simply ignore it? I'd appreciate input from those who've done this.

When you finish entering the unlock code if you get a message something like "SIM restriction off" or similar it's unlocked.

Generally when you unlock you'll only need to use code #1 or #7.

If your 6310i is ATT phone, borrow a friend's Cingular or TMO SiM and put it in. See if it goes to either one, if it does, it's unlocked. If it isn't, it would say 'insert sim'.

i know if you put the unlock code in twice the phone will say "phone not restricted"
