    sms free (outgoing) through gprs

so I guess T mobile US in Los angeles is doing away with the free outgoing SMS through GPRS feature.

I can sometimes send an SMS through this way but its a very very rare occurance. 99% of the time, I'm getting SMS Barred error messages. Sending through GSM works perfectly everytime.

    *sad*

anyone else in the US still able to send (outgoing) SMS through GPRS still?

Text Msg--->Setting---->common setting--->Bearer select--->select "GPRS" instead of GSM.

Instruction above are set out for E715, may apply E105 since they both have similar function.

    Hope that help!

I need to find out T610, sending SMS (outgoing for free), anyone have intruction pls put it out there. Thanks.

i have a t630 so should be roughly similar.

Go through connectivity -> data comm -> sms access -> here you can choose between gsm and gprs. just pick gprs.

If you're lucky, text messages should be sent normally. If you're unlucky like me =(, you'll get SMS Barred errors.

just remember, you'll still get charged for receiving/incoming SMS because they only go through GSM, not GPRS.

my phone is unbranded from HK so i can't say for sure a Tmobile branded T610 would have this option available.

    good luck though!

sounds like you gotta setup GPRS first, easiest way to do that is to use the online WAP configurator at the SE website.

Just type in your number in the right format and it'll send the settings in an SMS to your phone, your phone will display a message asking you to accept the settings? and you just hit yes.

That should get your GPRS up and running.

    g'luck

from what i haerd, t-mobile t610's with t-mobile's R6B or R3C firmware have SMS via GPRS disabled. i wish i had confirmed this before flashing my phone.

i got it unlocked it, upgraded the firmware, and loaded an uncustomised SE original GDFS file on there so it works fine for me. sending int'l however is much more reliable via GSM.

just to add a little more info, I am using R4C003 on a HongKong phone.

Once in a blue moon, I'll be able to send a SMS through GPRS but for the most part, it doesn't work.

That's what's really baffling, I guess I could understand if it didn't work at all or if it worked all the time.

But to work every now and then is just....strange. oh well. only a nickel to send as it is =).

it probably depends on which tmobile coverage area your in, For example, if your on a shared network, like in CA, or NV, then it probably wont work since your using cingulars network.... In AZ it works fine over GPRS, and I have r4c003 EU5 firmware on my T610.
