The following message sent by Telus in response to my inquiry regarding the effect of these rate changes on Clearnet customers and whether/when we would be made to subscribe to one of the new plans:

As with other service providers, TELUS Mobility reserves the right to make changes to our existing products or services. Changes may be required for a
variety of reasons, and are only completed after consideration of competitive, promotional, and financial requirements. A business decision was made to introduce new rate plans that are specific to the market in which they are launched.

Although the changes are effective May 7, 2001, these changes will not impact our existing clients. TELUS Mobility will continue to honour our existing clients rate plans, however should you choose to change rate plans, your previous rate plan will no longer be available to you.

We apologize for any confusion that these changes may have caused.
