Question Wonderin if DOCOMO FOMA M1000 work with Cingular

I was very curious to know if DOCOMO Foma M1000 will work with other GSM providers. Since it pretty much similar to Moto A1000.

Does anyone know about the details if it can be done?
Ebay has a guy selling it, he claims that his m1000 unlocked but no picture showing that a Provider is display only the browser with ebay site loaded.

    Thanks!

According to what I read on the internet (check out this reference: http://www.gsmworld.com/technology/3g/index.shtml), I actually think that it is possible to co-use WCDMA with GSM. Hence, theoretically making it possible to use Cingular.

But, I'm not sure if the thing can support GSM 850, assuming that it's real, and if it does support GSM.
History doesn't necessarily repeat, but it rhymes - each with its own twists...

Well, you see the guy never really show PICTURES OF IT RUNNING ON ANOTHER SIM..
If he had a DOCOMO sim in it, he can run all the program he wanted..even the wirless browser...
I heard nothing even my source saying about m1000 can be unlock as for now....
    its kinda fishy.....
    what do u guys think?

I would avoid the M1000 and get the Motorola A1000 where you know what you're getting.

Well, almost everything on eBay is more or less a gamble.

Does that seller answer questions? That can be one way that might quell some excess riski/fishi-ness

My problem is that knowing the monopolistic attitudes of the Japanese in general and DoCoMo in particular, I'd bet it's locked seven ways to Sunday to only work with DoCoMo anything.

DRNewComb has a good point. Even if you can unlock it, th fucitons will eb limited in the wayn taht you can't access WAP or use eMail etc...

Wifi might work, but don't count on it.

The Vodaofne Sharp V801SH for example can be unlocked, but is still ehavily locked down even after that.

Very neat, I wouldn't be surprised if it's heck of expensive considering it's the first phone to cover all GSM and UMTS 2100 bands.
