MPT Multimedia Center option grayed out? Possible V3c Fix?

Ok, I had a version of MPT 3.28 on my laptop that didn't have the Multimedia Center option grayed out with my V3c phone. I had the same version of 3.28 on my desktop where it was grayed out due to the program & updates being installed at a later date. After much screwing around to try to find a difference...I think I found it! Modems.pac is different! I copied the 1 file from my laptop to my desktop and it did nothing. I finally figured out YOU MUST DELETE YOUR CURRENT PROFILES & CREATE NEW ONES for it to work!!

Would someone with MPT 3.28 and a Verizon V3c phone please try this to confirm it works. Rename your current Modems.pac to Modems.pacOLD & copy my new one to the Program Files\mobile PhoneTools folder. It's just one small file & here's the link to dnload it. Dont forget to create a new profile when you start MPT.

    Sorry, I don't have a V3C otherwise I'd test this... But I will add...

If MPT doesn't prompt you about profiles when you start, you won't be able to create a new profile...

To setup MPT so it DOES prompt you about profiles... From inside MPT, Menu -> Setup -> General Setup -> Miscellaneous Tab.... Click on Request which profile to use... Click OK, then exit/restart MPT...

Btw, you might want to post this over in the MPT Multimedia Center option grayed out?MPT Multimedia Center option grayed out? thread...

    As a comparrison.. I've uploaded my Modems.pac to -> http://www.v710.org/mark/Files/ModemsPac.zip

Its dated 8/25/05. Doing a FC /bin to compare yours and mine.. they match...

    Thanks!

Thanks Icer1. I had the same problem today with my new V3c. My MMS was grayed out. Deleted profiles - no luck. I then downloaded your modems.pac file, deleted the profiles again, and it worked like a charm. Thanks again.

This solution has worked for me as well. In fact I just went into setup and added a new phone rather than creating a new profile. As for the date of the file, I modded the file before I checked out the dates.

I just got my v3c from alltel & replaced this file on v3.28 MPT 12/22/05. It did allow me to go into MMS but when I try to transfer an mp3 or any large file it will stop in the middle of transfer & say "Connection link broken by phone".

I've got the same problem moving larger files (~200kb) between the phone and PC. Anyone got a fix for this?

Me too. I don't know how to transfer a full sized ~5mb mp3 to the phone. It seems there is a limit?

Supposedly there is a fix involving replacing file "usbsermpt.sys" in the c:\windows\system32 folder in XP pro(posibly same for home). You do however have to replace it in Safe mode or windows will just undo any change you make to the file. I would back up the old file just to be sure. Here is the file let me know how it works.

This is an OLD issue and has been discussed many many many times before...

It is caused by a conflict between the chip in the phone, and Windows USBSER.SYS file...

Possible work arounds, and more info... visit my pages (link in my signature), when you get there use the nav list on the left and click on USBSER.SYS...

also read what I posted at -> http://www.howardforums.com/showpost...60&postcount=8

I don't see any nav list or anything on the left when I click on that link but I have tried the following from many other posts:

1.) Updating v3c's driver with Drivertool from DVRP http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip

2.) Updating usbsermpt.sys (which the new driver uses instead of the old USBSER.SYS according to this link: http://www.v710.org/mark/V710_USBSERSYS.htm

3.) Replacing the Modems.pac file & manually seting up new profile w/ v3c in new pac list.

If someone knows any other fixes besides these for the v3c Please help.

Mark, I've tried everything on your page as well as other users with no success...

Can anyone confirm that with a Verizon V3c Razr they can transfer FULL MP3's using the USB cable and MPT?

I've tried both 3.28 and 4.?? beta version. Best I can do is a 200kb mp3. Full sized and it craps out.

the nav list is only on my pages... not that link I added inline...

If you read BOTH.. you will see the possible fixes... Use BVRP's drivertool so that the driver will use an "older" USBSER.SYS (a windows 2000 version)... If that doesn't work, you can try using the 8/8/2000 version of the USBSER.SYS by booting in safe mode and replacing the USBSERMPT.SYS... if that doesn't work, you can try the suspend trick...

Unfortunately those done work 100% of the time...

So if they don't work, your only choice is switch to bluetooth. Or give up on file transfers...
