WOW...really? The BATTERY? DAng..that's alot easier than a hard reset.

I too just lost my calendar events for semingly no reason at all & played around with the scarybear app. This seems to be happening to lots of people..and for no good reason. Just one day up & decides to stop working..looks like some kind of confusion in the notifcation queue..as evidenced by the fact I also had a ton of those red "duplicated" events in there.

    Hey gregrey,

Can you tell us exactly how you went about pulling out the battery and got your notifications back? As in, did you pull it out while your device was powered on, or off? Did you shut it down, then pull the battery, then put it back in and power up?

What exactly worked for you to get your notifications back?

I'm having this same problem, and it's the second time since I bought it in November 2005, that I'm looking at a potential hard reset, which is utter BS .

There HAS to be a developer out there that is looking at this problem?!

I will be honest with you, it happened to me a second time and I left on the 8125 and pulled the battery out and nothing happened. I am sure there is a way to do it I am just not sure which method worked but I was able to get them back again. I suggest the following. Also do not hard reset just keep trying different combinations one will work it has worked for me twice.

Leave the phone on go to the notification settings and turn all notifications off(uncheck the enable sounds for notifications) with the phone still on pull out the battery for at least 10 seconds, then reinsert the battery. I think this should work, if it doesn't try it a few times because for me it eventually worked. Also post on this board exactly what is was you did when it did work because now that i got the notifications back I can't test it. Trust me 5-10 minutes of screwing around with the battery is much easier than a hard reset and that is what I kept telling myself.

Good luck and if it does happen to me again i will document step by step what i did to get it back.

I've been trying the battery thing for hours now with no effect. I've also tried the "changing the date and doing resets" to no avail. I have noticed that if I put the date back a couple of weeks, to before my problems started, that I don't have the problem. Reminders work and everything, but my dates are all out of whack.

Mine started (I think) when an SMS message came in the same time an alarm went off. When I hit the notification button, I think WM5 got confused as to what was being supressed, and locked my notification in some state of suspension. After resets, as the system is booting, my alarm starts going off, but I have no option to suppress it!

As mentioned, going back in time fixed the issue, so my "hanging" alarm is what is locking it up. I haven't tried the ScaryBear software yet, but is there a way to delete the hiding notification with that software?

Just trying to get to the root of this issue!

I think I did it! No hard reset required.

As mentioned in the last post, I was sure that it was something with a hanging reminder. I set the time one week in the past, to when I didn't have the problem, and did a soft reset. I then moved the date one day ahead, soft reset, and dismissed all notifications.

    Repeat.

Go through advancing each day, dismissing all reminders after you change the time, and again after the soft reset. I did this until I reached the present, and it all seems to work! I finally dismissed the alarm that caused the glitch.

I think I will still download ScaryBear's software. I've noticed my system bogging down, so there may be some notification build-up in there. I'm assuming this works OK on WM5?

now to fix my constantly mis-aligning screen issue...

    Battery method

Couldn't get my battery method to work this time but the date method seems to work, we'll see how long it lasts this time.

Me too. Hard resets are the only thing that's worked for me.

My fix seemed to only fix the silent alarm problem. The alarm that was hidden (as described in my post above) still goes off every weekday morning. I still need to crack the event queue and delete it, but in the meantime, I just have to dismiss the one reminder each day.

I have a TON of alarms (too many meetings at work) and I've found the 'wakeup tweak' by scarybear will fix it when it gets hung up. It gets hung up about once a week unfortuantely which is frustrating..but as soon as I hit the 'calendar clean-up' the next meeting notification will fire properly.

Its very annoying after depending on meeting alarms (with MSVC it actually speaks the mtg and the location which is super cool..no need to even take your phone out of your pocket) so when i dont get the notification (or voice) for a meeting its extremely frustrating. Been late to a couple of meetings b/c of this.

I'm using Windows Mobile 5 and have been trying to solve this problem for months now. I've tried many different fixes including registry edits to lengthen the timeout period, using Scarybear notification fix, setting device time back to before the problem occur etc., and none solved the problem. Something finally seems to work today (keeping my fingers crossed) and I decided to post my solution. Hopefully it'll spare some people the trouble of hard-reset.

The solution for me: PocketMax AlarmToday

It's a today plugin, so it's going to take up some real estate in your Today screen. (I've tried disabling it from the Today screen but it won't work.) This program also displays the list of all reminders on your screen, which may be helpful to some. For others like me who already have other plugins (like PocketBreeze) for that, here's what you can do to minimize the real estate used:

    • Using a registry editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> pocketMax -> AlarmToday.
    • Set the value of "maxAlarms" to 0
    • Go to Start Menu -> Settings -> Today -> Items tab to disable the AlarmToday plugin and click OK to exit
    • Return to the same page and re-enable the plugin for the registry setting to take effect

Your plugin should now take less space without the list of reminders.

    Reminder alarm

    Blueorb:

Thanks for posting your Pocketmax solution thread, that software installation seems to have fixed the problem that my MDA was having with it's calendar alarm and notification feature. I just have a couple of questions. What purpose does the "Asian" folder, that was created, have to do with the functionality of the the pocketmax today software. This Asian folder is filled with a series of jpegs. Also, the notification system of my MDA is continually displaying a message that says that "the speakerphone is on". How do I disable this feature?

Thanks for your help and God Bless

I didn't know of any Asian folder created with the installation of this app. Is the source of your installer reliable? =P Not sure about the speakerphone issue either, as I have not encountered it. Glad that the fix is working for you though.
