My Moto Optimo Maxx shows a really tiny battery charge icon on the notification bar and it's impossible to read.

I opened developer mode and tried to change the battery icon size by hiding the cutout notch but it didn't work.

I decided to try a battery power monitor app and found two. I didn't want technical analytics, just an easy to read battery charge indicator, one that doesn't collect or share data.

Constant monitoring might run the battery down, but I can monitor that in battery usage.

Here are two relatively simple ones that have the info in the notification panel:

Battery Alarm
Zoran Vujacic

BatteryBot Battery Indicator
Darshan Computing, LLC

Note: To access developer mode,
Settings> About Phone> Build number > (tap it multiple times)
Once it says you're a developer, you access its options under Settings> System> Advanced > Developer Options

I don't mess with most of the settings, but one of the many options allows changing the appearance of the virtual camera/earpiece notch at top of the screen.

I use Battery Guru. I don't know about the privacy policy but I've never seen a more comprehensive battery app that didn't require root.

(I added the widget to the home screen to show it has one -- I don't usually use it)
