Mobile X launched

i am personally seriously considering using this paired with a T-Mobile data only business line($10 month unlimited) in a dual SIM setup on my primary phone

Last I checked, iPhone option was “full” since they’re still in Beta is this still true?

(Not that I’d leave Visible right now, but options are always nice.)

no longer Beta, fully launched. may not have full iPhone support yet for visual voicemail, MMS(other than iMessage), etc. though that involves apple offering carrier bundle access which i believe is still in negotiation.

Good Paygo like Tello. Unlimited is same or worse than Visible.

Comparing a couple of lower-allotment plans to Tello's pricing, MobileX seems to come out very slightly cheaper. (But not enough to make me consider switching at this point, and you can't construct an apples-to-apples allotment scheme that isn't unlimited voice.) I'm guessing that the tax/fees might reverse that pricing differential, though.
Nice to have a choice of Verizon at this price point!

Most or all of those things should work including MMS and 5G access. In the beta, MobileX provided a way to download an APN configuration file on iPhones. It will be a minor annoyance for some users to do, and perhaps a bit confusing for the less tech savvy. This wouldn't be necessary with a proper carrier bundle. Visual Voicemail was also working in beta but I know a tester a few days ago had issues with it.

This quote is from the MobileX website:

"After high-speed monthly data allotment is exceeded, speeds will be reduced to 512kbps for the remainder of the access period."

That 512 kbps throttle speed is significantly faster than the throttle speed of some other cellular providers. For example, AT&T Prepaid throttles at 128 kbps.

If it throttles to 512kbps on the pay as you go data that would be a game changer

has anyone tried this yet? do they support hotspot? tia

i have not tried yet but likely will

the founder is very active on twitter, the reports are that hotspot is enabled but it will never be advertised or mentioned by the company, their target audience are light data users looking to save money not heavy users and most hotspot users are in that category.

most of us have wifi at home, hotspot is a great option as backup or on trips, etc

Can confirm no unlimited throttle on the non fake unlimited…helped me to see that it is a good $5 a month for a kids line if you don’t want them to have data

Tried to activate this on a Pixel 3 - no joy :'( . I'm looking for data only, Tello works fine as well as US Mobile. MobileX would be less expensive AND have automatic rollover :)
