Reconditioned iPhone 11 "reactivated" rather than "activated."

Bought a reconditioned iPhone 11 that was not properly reconditioned, as it was seen by the system as a "Reactivation" rather than an "Activation" when I used the included plan.

This means

1) No RAF to friend and my RAF will never vest and

2) It will not unlock in 60 days after "new activation."

When I call the ERD number, they agree that it is wrong but say nothing can be done by anyone at Tracfone, ever. 12 months of service, because, well, "that's just the way some phones are."

Is my best plan to use the 30 day warranty to get a replacement and hope that one has been properly cleaned?

Anyone handled this situation well?

(trying to read anything off the tiny text on dot matrix invoice label included is well neigh impossible, even with camera zoom.sales number.jpg

Unless someone has real experience with it, I don't think Referral points require a new device, just a new line. I have a refurb iphone11 activated in mid-Feb with a referral and its History shows "Deactivated: 12/9/22" "Reactivated: 2/17/23". I'll know in mid-April whether its pending points will vest, and whether or not it gets unlocked.

I am more concerned about the 12 month unlock than Rewards points.

I have been told that old history should be erased in the "reconditioning" process. Since I bought this phone in February it was not.

12 month unlock on activation of a new device -- that's Verizon breaking its legal agreement, right?

Have you asked CS when your phone will be unlockable without paying $300?

As far as I know, if a device was initially activated before 11/23/21 (which means it falls under the old 12-month policy), it will have to meet the old policy. I agree that TF not wiping out the history of a refurbished phone before reselling it is not right.

I don't particularly care whether or not that phone will be unlocked, so I won't bother contacting TF about it.

Last fall I had a refurb A51 that I activated with a new number. AAL points didn't vest because TF said it was a reactivation. After BBB and FCC complaints and a few calls to TF corporate they finally gave me the AAL points.

I think they are not clearing refurbished phones properly. I used to love the refurb phones but I won't buy them any more. Only new phones now.

Seems to be hit or miss. I had a refurb A51 that I activated in January and it showed as a reactivation but AAL points vested fine. It will be eligible to be unlocked on the 15th.
